Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomA bit cramped for a winter break but ideal for summer when patio doors, that open onto a little patio with table and chairs, can be used.
Great location, very peaceful. Ideal for RSPB Minsmere. Our host was lovely and cooked an excellent breakfast. Beautiful cottage. Madeleine showed us one of her larger rooms which we will book next time as our room was very small. We went on a very wet, chilly weekend (it was December)! So we were very pleased that the room was warm and cosy to come back to at the end of the day.

United KingdomOur attractive chalet, (more like a little barn) was a tad on the small side, as was the bathroom, (no shelves or flat surfaces to put anything) but all perfectly ok for a short stay. Opening and closing the entrance gate to park the car might be a bit of a nuisance in the wet, but in the fine weather we had, you do get to see the lovely wild flower garden and hear the birds.
We loved the look of the house, garden and accommodation from the photos on the website, and the location was ideal for our needs. Just the sort of place where we really enjoy staying. The on-site parking was an added bonus even if it was a bit of a squeeze. Take a smallish car if you stay! Ours is a 21 year old Micra! There were lots of very thoughtful items available in the room. Besides the usual free tea and coffee, small toiletries (like a toothbrush), biscuits, confectionery bars and other useful sundries could be purchased via the honesty box in the room. So lovely to be trusted.

United Kingdom-
It was an excellent find! As well as being surrounded by places to visit during the day and 2 places in walking distance for evening meals, Madeline’s cottage was a lovely place to stay. Breakfast in the traditional kitchen was a very good experience. On the way home we stopped off at Madeleine’s recommended farm shop (Emmerdale) - another good find.

United KingdomOur stay at Mulleys Cottage was absolutely lovely. Two nights close to Minsmere which was exactly what I wanted. The accommodation is a chalet behind the house; private, very comfortable, clean and cute. The bed is very comfortable, the shower is great, we loved our patio area where we sat and watched the night sky with no light pollution. Maddie is a fantastic host, she was there to welcome us on arrival and explain everything about the village, where to eat and drink etc. Breakfast is fab... think country kitchen, local news, excellent conversation and scrummy food.. fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, nuts and berries... Maddie cooked us wonderful full breakfast and we had other guests to chat with... all in all we had a fab time and we hope to book in with the lovely Maddie again. P.S the garden is a beautiful wildlife haven although I wasn't lucky enough to spot the slow worm. Thanks Maddie, love from Fiona and Kev. July 2023.

United KingdomCan't really think of anything we didn't like - maybe more sunshine but there wasn't much our host could do about that!
Madeleine was a lovely host. She made us feel very welcome and knew a lot about the area and the local birdlife. We opted for the bed and breakfast option rather than self-catering, which was a good decision as the home-cooked breakfasts were both plentiful and of excellent quality. We chose to stay at Mulley's Cottage due to its proximity to RSPB Minsmere and the Suffolk coast but the village itself has two good pubs, a local shop, tea room and two bookshops. There's also a farm shop a couple of miles up the road. The apartment is cosy but still a good size for two, with a king size bed and a well-equipped kitchen (we cooking in two out of three nights). Madeleine also provided us with milk, tea, coffee and chocolate biscuits! The apartment is also just a few minutes walk from Westleton Common, where we were lucky enough to see nightjars three evenings in a row, just after sunset.

Beautiful quaint property, in an idyllic village. stunning gardens, rooms/annex were comfy and cosy and were filled with everything you needed. Maddie was the most beautiful host, so friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was our favourite time, homemade cooked breakfast made to order from fresh fruit, cereals and everything in between. Absolutely loved our morning chats with Maddie, she recommended lots of beautiful places to visit. We will absolutely be returning, we loved everything about this stay. Such a gem of a find.

The freshly cooked breakfast eaten in the kitchen with a log fire burning brightly was a delight. The location of the property was excellent for trips to RSPB Minsmere along with trips to Southwold and Aldeburgh. The host provided great insight to eateries and local details. The Cabin was quirky and delightful with everything you need for a pleasant stay. Madeleine is the perfect host and we look forward to our next stay. Graham and Janet

United KingdomThe shower room is a little on the small side and would benefit from some maintenance and updating. Specifically, the shower head has a mind of its own and the basin tap is a bit cranky!
The breakfasts that we had were excellent. Good quality of produce and served in characterful cottage kitchen. Mulleys Cottage is situated in a lovely village within beautiful countryside. We particularly appreciated the peace at night.
