Receptionist is the barista, bartender etc etc so always a long wait if you need something

I would expect more bathrooms and better cleaned.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was nice and peaceful. I really liked the fact that there was a kitchen, so everybody could cook a meal or store products in the fridge.

My room had a lovely outlook but was above the courtyard so it was very noisy when guests were outside. However the music was turned down at an acceptable hour. Something to expect from staying in a hostel.

Breakfast was good. The downside is that it happens in the pub and everything is not together, in the same place, you do not know where to get some coffee, where to get some cereals, fruits etc... When you give your room number, the staff should quickly point to the guests where everything is because they are spread around the room, not in the same place (the toaster is far from the bread). I found the coffee only when I was leaving. There is not a big choice of cereals or fruits (only muesli and apples). The milk is cold, I think it should be kept in a thermal. But appart from this it was good. There was soya milk if you wanted. We couldn't use the TV, you need to link it to your mobile. It is not possible to view the French channels just by switching on the TV.

The location is good but it is advisable to use bus number 10 from Lille Flandres as it a bit far if walking, with a suitcase. I booked a private bedroom with a private bathroom and we loved it. Very clean with a nice window. The blind was very good at night to keep the room in darkness. In the bathroom, the hair dryer is kept in a pretty bag with the name of the hotel on it. For breakfast, there was grape juice, orange juice and also water with mint and lemon. Good! You do not often have grape juice in hotels.

It's a bit far away (20min walking) from the train and bus stations. The breakfast was nothing special.

When I checked in I realized that my room's (305) bathroom has a bathtub and I am not a fan of them, so I asked the receptionist to change a room and he gave me 304 which had a shower and the green wall which is shown in the pictures. I really appreciated the change and was more comfortable in the new room.

Tbh, I like this place. However, I saw mice in the kitchen and another in the reception/dinning area while having breakfast. Also, there were flies hovering over some of the items for breakfast. I’d suggest they take more measures to address these things. Aside this, it’s a nice place.

The room was clean, you get a blackout curtain around your bed, bed light, socket and a shelf. Bed was comfortable.

The cleaner came in to the room before check-out time and therefore woke me up early in the morning while cleaning the other beds in the room.

More clarity about the 2 different breakfast you can have.

Room was a bit small, but I liked the bunk bed. There was also a communal kitchen and area on the 1st floor. And a nice sitting area outside. Within 15 minutes you're in the old part of the city.

Our room had a sloping roof, so very little headroom when lying in the bed, hit my head a few times. Also made showering difficult as couldn't stand up properly. The bike storage didn't seem very secure and is also uncovered. Would be good if there was a gluten free breakfast option.

There was a very large group booking who came down for breakfast and ate nearly all of the food before we came to breakfast at 8am!! The staff made no effort to explain this at check in nor did they try to restock the breakfast buffet after the group had left! The staff should have spoken to the remaining guests (about 5 or 6 of us) after the group had left to at least apologise or ask us if we wanted anything else. At a cost of 9€ I would expect more than a slice of bread, coffee and some orange juice. My daughter who worked in a hostel for 2 months last year was with with me and very surprised and disappointed by the lack of planning and poor communication of the hostel staff.

The shower really needs to be improved. There was mould on the roof, the shower was push button (no pressure or temperature control) and water went everywhere if you opened the door when the shower was running. You also have to pay €4 extra for a towel.

Great location - close to the park and not far from the central city. The dorms are nice with privacy curtains, lockers and shelves/plugs by the beds. Nice bar by reception where you can get a drink and delicious bakery across the road.

As I was working remotely and in a spacious room a small desk would have been very helpful. The smart tv was a nice component but it only works if you can cast your own streaming subscriptions- which wasn’t compatible with my tech. Instructions on how to access local news, events and weather on this device would have been nice.

Excellent location and facilities with an experienced staff fluent in English and likely many other languages.

The hostel is fairly new, and has an equipped kitchen and bar in the ground floor. It felt like there could have been more than one toilet/shower on the first floor given how many beds there are, but I was always able to find an empty spot on either the first or ground floors. The beds are comfy and private, with built-in shelves and plugs, but nowhere to store luggage. Location is about 15 minutes walk to the center or 15 minutes by bus to the train station.

One female staff member in Reception had a permanent scowl which got worse if we asked her for something. A pity — everyone else was so good natured and kind — including the cleaning staff, so sweet. Radiateurs. The one in the bathroom couldn’t be modulated. Bit was in fact ver hot.

Breakfast ok, just a bit too expensive for what it was. 7€ would have been a fairer price. Reception was GREAT with one exception. EXCELLENT drag queen show, thank you !

matrasses to hard (thin) gave me real backpain, sheets weren't to clean either! (...don't expect to find dust and pubic hair on properly washed sheets! )
