We spent our vacation around Zanzibar for almost 2 weeks, and The Garten Living Hotel exceeded our exception!! Everything is brand new, stylish, spotless - everyday cleaning in the room. Breakfast is amazing, specially the Lebanese cheese & Labnuh balls, and they change the breakfast on daily basis so you don't get tired of the same food. The dining in the garden at night is so romantic, you must try their burgers, as it's one of the best ever!!!

New, chic & hip eco-boutique hotel. We were among the first guests and some rooms are still being finished. The owner and her team is very pleasant and professional. You also get an amazing breakfast deal from their cafe (a rooftop deck) where you have a very delicious selection of brunch items, fruit smoothies, and amazing coffee (which is very hard to come by in Zanzibar). The rooms are of good size and tastefully decorated with a mix of new and recycled materials. The bed was very comfy and there was an aircon, a desk, and enough place to put all your stuff around. The property is within a 5-minute walk from the main Paje beach and they have a small spot where you can come and stay at the sunbeds for free.

We loved our stay at Kameleon Blue. The place is in a really quiet area, few minutes walking from the beach. It has a beautiful garden with nice swimming pool. We enjoyed a lot the food in the restaurant, the only varied vegetarian menu in the area. The breakfast was big and super delicious with three different options to choose from. The staff was really friendly, very good vibes and we got really nice tips from them on getting around the island. You can book any day trip or transfer directly from there.

    Jerry is a wonderful Location next to the beach.

    Jerry is a wonderful Location next to the beach. We stayed there for 4 days and enjoyed it The staff was very helpful and supportive. The rooms are nice and clean. And Jambiani is a nice and quiet place to stay. Next time I would go there again.

    I loved that it was a proper reflection of the Island in that you took home the beauty of the place and kindness of the people. It was not loud or noisy and had very few touristy hotels and vendors hassling you

    This is not a touristy location... it is off the beaten...

    This is not a touristy location... it is off the beaten track... a village, by the sea, with an increasing number of resorts being added. I hope it does not lose its charm to the crowds. This is a quiet, special place.

    I've been in Makunduchi before and if you don't want to be...

    I've been in Makunduchi before and if you don't want to be in the tourist hotspot it is great! The beach is fantastic (but be aware of the low and high tides). I would recommend arranging for a driver to get around as there are many great places to visit and you shouldn't stay put in just one place.

    This place is a gem!

    This place is a gem! A new hotel with a big heart, right by the ocean, surrounded by peaceful gardens and a stunning pool. The rooms are spacious and stylish, the breakfast is fresh and delicious, and very friendly staff. The connection to the hospitality school is inspiring—it's not just a great stay, it’s also supporting something meaningful.. It’s rare to find a place that feels this good in every way.     A wide variety of restaurants, good food. Lovey eatery's on the beach overlooking the ocean. Easy to walk around to the market and the local shops. Ideal holiday for those who love the ocean and water sport's, the local friendliness is an added bonus.

    beautiful beach!!!!

    beautiful beach!!!! However not the best beach for bathing because when is lower tide you simply have to walk to much for a swim. beach in the north are better if you have kids. Much more quiet than Page and less windy as well. Very safe neighborhood with nice restaurants.

    Paradise …Jim’s, Salim, Irene and Juliane were exceptional always ready to help. They just couldn’t do enough for you. The reception staff especially Yusef were very accommodating especially as we arrived very early from Dar-es-Salam! They let us drop our bags and enjoy all the facilities until our room was ready! We had a wonderful stay in Paradise.

    Just up the beach from Paje town, a little quieter but thats...

    Just up the beach from Paje town, a little quieter but thats what was nice. Wandered to different restaurants along the beach for lunch and dinner. Limited during off season but enough open. We came via Dar Es Salaam airport and ferry. If you can't get an e-visa before arrival, plan 2hrs to exit the airport. We missed our booked ferry and had to pay again for the last ferry on a different company. Used Zanzibar Quest to book the ferry and transport with exemplary service and support via whatsapp and email. The new travel insurance requirement $50p/p on top of the $50p/p visa fee is a scam that mars the experience. The amount of times we had to show our passport and visa / travel insurance was reminiscent of the cold war. Inefficient and overboard. So if you can fly direct to Zanzibar and use e-visa or have patience and a loose schedule. The drive to the Page beach area took about 1 ½ hrs with the first ⅓ taking ¾ of the time with a typical african road experience. Get a good driver. Driving licenses are issued by testing payment of fee. The driver booked by Zanzibar Quest was excellent. Great beach, wind was consistent during the afternoon to either kite or cool down. Bring sunscreen and mosquito repellent. Not a fan of the immigration process or the fees.
