We were only there for a golf competition so didn't really see much of Nottingham. We did eat in the Gameston Lock, which was pleasant and the food was good. Premier Inn on London road, next to BBC centre was perfect for the Nottinghamshire Golf Club, Trent Bridge and both the Nottingham football clubs. Train station is easy for all of those too.
There are plenty of good places for food and drink. But it does take a long time to reach any place outside the city in Nottinghamshire. A little gem would be to walk around the grounds of wollaton hall
good base for exploring Nottinghamshire. the town itself is historic and interesting and excellent for a morning/evening stroll to stretch the legs. also very pleasant to walk along the riverbank past the impressive castle. a visit to the Prince Rupert pub in Stodman street is a must do.
Bingham is a pleasant town set in the relatively unknown Nottinghamshire countryside. It has easy access to Nottingham, which is why we stay here. It is also much better value and better situated than many Nottingham hotels. This time, we explored some of the lovely nearby countryside and drove to St Wilfrid's Church Screveton about four miles away. Here my twelve times great grandfather Sir Richard Whalley lies buried in a superb 16th century alabaster tomb at the base of the church tower. His three wives and 25 children are all carved into the back of his tomb and I am related to his eldest son Thomas and through him to Sir Wyamarus Whalley, King William the Conqueror's standard-bearer at the Battle of Hastings. Amazing what you can find in an out-of-the-way English parish church!
The City is very compact so you can easily get round it in a day. We stayed for 2 nights and that was plenty of time to see all the main attractions. The Museum of Nottinghamshire Life was very good but only opens on Saturday and Sunday. I really wanted to see the Courts of Justice but it was being renovated so could only see the old Police Station. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants and a nice walk along the canal if you get good weather.
Pleasant market town, a good base for visiting family and exploring north Nottinghamshire. Lots of National Trust properties in the area - great potential for interesting days out.
Try Cods scallops across the road. A fish and chip shop with a big difference !! Travel a bit and see the Nottinghamshire district. Parks, castles, play areas. Something for all ages.
I would thoroughly recommend Colston Bassett for anyone wanting to explore Nottinghamshire. In particular if you're a cyclist the roads around there are perfect - look up 'Belles of Beloir' Sportive on RidewithGPS for a 24, 50 or 70 mile route you could try. There's only one pub in the village but the food is lovely and the garden is beautiful. The village is a real gem of tranquility - real 'old england'!
Bingham, another Nottinghamshire small market town, plenty of places to eat including a few pubs. Sits on the old A52 (A52 now bypasses Bingham) at the junction with A46 so an ideal stop over if traveling north/south or east/west or any combination of all directions, only 10 or so minutes to Newark junction of the A1 for motorway acess to the northeast/southeast, we were traveling up to Yorkshire. The city of Nottingham ( Cricket Test and County matches, premier league football as well National water sports centre for whitewater rafting/canoeing) about 20 mins away, add another 15mins and your at East Midlands Airport. Plenty of places for easy walks including the river Trent not to mention loads of local pubs and eating places. To sum up at good place for a overnight stop over or a long weekend break.
Greater Nottingham/shires Stapleford just fab hot it’s towns of Broxtowe BC topsoftheworld there are lots Raul places going as far as no mans land as there is dale abbey hermitage place caves Henry the eighth church chapel architecture greater Derbyshire it’s fascinating geological surroundings in its excitements adventures much to exploration etc yes greater greater greater Nottinghamshire derbyshire just great combinations to wild life’s especially for winter comes ok lots to learn on ok thank you DET
Blidworth

The manager and staff at this is a lovely hotel in the heart of Nottinghamshire were so professional and accommodating. When we arrived there after a long day's drive they went out of their way to give us a room of our preference. Hats off to them!
We've stayed many times here. The hotel, staff, and views are lovely. There's a great food menu with a good selection of drinks too. Even tho we live in Nottinghamshire, we love coming here as it's a great getaway.

Enjoyed the relaxing time ,lovely place to chill ,great food great staff . Lovely walk around Clumber Park so great area.
How friendly the staff are and helpful
The Dukeries is a traditional English Inn. It is not a Holiday Inn, so if that is what you want, this isn't the place for you. But if you want to experience a traditional inn / pub with a lovely staff, this is the place to stay when visiting Sherwood Forest The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Getting a full English breakfast as part of my lodging was a great way to start the day. It was also very walkable and the town was great
We had 2 nights in The Lodge, which was very clean, the staff were very friendly & helpful. The breakfast was lovely. We will be visiting this area again, & will again use The Mansfield Lodge.
Very comfortable lovely rooms good location to get to where I wanted to go loads of food places near even lidl lovely rooms great value for money and my kids loved it
Close to station and Tesco etc. Good price Very nice staff
Comfortable double bed, easy access to building and room, easy communication and fast reply from staff, reasonable price, would definately choose it again whenever i am in Nottingham.
On arrival we were met by a friendly, pleasant and helpful lady named Bev. The decor was fabulous and looked beautiful and was very clean. After a chat we were advised to book a taxi with a return journey to and from the venue we were attending 6 or so miles away. We were given a local taxi number to phone and then shown to our room. A nice start to a lovely stay at The Forest Lodge. The next morning after a good nights sleep in a comfy bed in a quiet room, we went for breakfast and were shown to our table by another friendly member of staff. The breakfast was a good choice of items from cereal and toast to yogurts and pastries with juices as well as tea and coffee. We chose The Lodge Grill from the menu it was well cooked, presented and was good quality ingredients and was really appreciated. On our check out we had another chat with Bev, she asked if we'd had a good night at the venue and if we'd had a good stay at The Forest Lodge, we both agreed we'd had a great stay and would definitely recommend staying here and said if we were coming to the venue again that we would book The Forest Lodge immediately. Great stay, great quality and super staff. Thank you.
The rooms were a lot better than I expected. Really great accommodations! updated look and comfortable beds.
Location to the center of town
