The nicest hostel I have been to in Chile, and I have travelled a lot through Chile. Large comfy dorms with big lockers, great common space to hang around and no less than 2 kitchens (one for vegetarians) with free fresh coffee, tea and cake (if you're lucky 😊). Staff are very friendly and Pierre, the owner, obviously cares a lot about his guests. Good value too - Puerto Varas isn't cheap. Surely hope to be back!

Absolutely TOP notch!!(I'd given 20 out of 10) My Casa Azul experience was incredibly awesome! It's a beautiful wooden house with so many cultural/historical details with peaceful ambiance. It's like a walking into a museum and place is spotless clean as well. Also I've met several wonderful fellow travelers around the globe and I'd definitely return again. We loved our stay in Hostal Compass del Sur. Nelly, the woman in charge when we were there, was very attentive and kind. The kitchen exceeded our expectations: every cooking tool you would like to use, is there. The beds were extremely comfortable and the showers warm. Wifi was perfect too.

It was clean, the location is good, the WiFi worked well, basic diy breakfast included and the owner was very shy woman of few words but friendly. And the dogs were fun. I really don’t understand the high rating, it’s a 6/10 for me because of the above mentioned combined with the price but I would never recommend it for more than just a bed and shower.
