The host, Hiroshi, is a true gentleman. He came to pick us up at the train station, gave us a lot of tips and was really friendly and kind to us. Wonderful rental property on a historic street in a quiet town, and a unique opportunity to stay in a traditional Machiya townhouse. It's the kind of experience that you come to Japan for, sleeping on futon in a tatami mat room, experiencing small town village life. The house has been beautifully restored and has everything you need. The host, who I never actually met in person, offered helpful restaurant recommendations and assistance making reservations, in addition to very detailed instructions on getting to the property from the train station by public bus. The toilet and bath is located in a separate building, which is a bit inconvenient in the middle of the night, but also contributes to the unique experience. I loved my stay here.
