Very clean city, polite drivers, calm and warm people, great prices for touristic objectives and souvenirs.
Breb, Săpânța, Sighetul Marmației, Creasta Cocosului were some of the visited locations and they did not disappoint at all, worth a second and third and forth trip :)
I ate in Baia Mare at La Pălincie and at Millennium La Tour, food extremely good, very fast serving, very nice waiters and experience.
It's easy to get around Baia Mare, it's not a very big city, Waze always helps :)
The Mocănița trip was nice also, but too long and very bumpy on the way back. 2 hours one way, 1.5 hours break, then 2 more hours back, traveling with 10-13 km/h. This I would not do again, but I do not regret the experience, it's worth going once!

The city has a very nice museum of mineralogy (other museums too), a nice view towards the neighboring mountains and is in close proximity to other mountain resorts (Suior, Mogosa, Izvoarele). You can also do trekking towards Ignis peak and Cock's Comb (Creasta Cocosului).

Baia Mare is surrounded by amazing nature, ski slope and hikes opportunities. There are several restaurants that serve delicious meals (we checked just Barbarossa and Dolce Vita). The city has some history pages, cultural events and nice places to go out by night.

After the Satu Mare, the Baia Mare was a pleasant surprise.
After the Satu Mare, the Baia Mare was a pleasant surprise. Very nice town with beautiful museums, excellent modern gallery, small planetarium, a tranquil city park with enormous trees... Local product and food are good and really chip. Baia Mare area also offers a lot: a bit of history and tradition, excellent traditional food even for vegetarians (boletus mushroom f.e.), hikes, unusual rok and mountain formations... a We found magic trout farm with a restaurant in Mara village- Pastrvaria Alex - must visit if you are in the area! We loved our short stay there, it was an absolute positive surprise, we plan to return.
The hotel is in a very pleasant location in Liberty Square in this quiet part of town. The hotel has a small car park and there is also plenty of parking on the street outside. Check-in was good, and the receptionist was helpful. We booked the apartment, which is actually two rooms without a connecting door that share a bathroom. It is a light and comfortable. The bathroom was good, everything worked and everything was clean. Breakfast was adequate. The free WiFi was good.
Loved the rustic design of this place, the quiet area, the beautiful green garden view from my window, the fresh air, the cozy room. I booked a single but received a more spacious twin room, and enjoyed my stay there.
The hotel also has a restaurant and I took advantage of that one evening when I was too tired to go out for dinner.
I recommend this stay to people who want a peaceful, budget friendly option away from the clamour of the city.
Easily the best and nicest property I’ve stayed in in Baia Mare. New building, high end finishes in the common areas and the apartment itself is immaculately clean and well taken care of. All the furniture is extremely comfortable and the location is perfect. 5 minute walk to the Old Center and right across the street from the taxi stand. Perfect for me and will be my “home” in Baia Mare from now on.
We had several disasters traveling through Transylvania and once we arrived in Baia Mare the staff at this hotel rescued us from one pickle after another. I booked this room based on booking.com ratings and the positive list of services available. Special thanks to Raul for coming to the rescue. Traveling during covid-19 is hard and he made it so much easier.
Daniel, The host is verry nice and helpfull guy. Will answer your questions, advice what to do and where, while your stay in Baia Mare, and in the evening serves great grilled or fried trout (polenta and potent garlic sauce is the must and only additives you need to fully enjoy that wonderfull meal). I really hope to come back to Cabana Alpha some day.
Exactly 3 stars hotel: not more, not less. In Romania it is a good hotel, for Western standards is rather average. Good location (in the geographical middle of the city). Nice view. Clean. Friendly staff. Excellent value for money. Close, and easily accessible street parking
Don't miss dinner in the hotel's restaurant. Meat is amazing, and trust in the waiter's advice for wines!
The parking place is just in the front of the hotel, in the hotel yard
The hotel has a nice garden too, with a pool and a pool bar.
The hotel is clean, tidy, and has everything you need. From the restaurant/fast-food downstairs to toiletries, mini fridge, hairdryer, etc.
Shops are really close. 3-5 minutes walk.
Very good breakfast, beautiful homemade bread. A sunny beautiful room.
The hotel is perfectly situated in a beautiful square. The northern part of Romania is stunning & interesting.
The house is spacious, clean and with all supplies/comforts, it is located in a very central position (5min walking distance to Baia Mare). I would absolutely recommend it
Veeery nice hotel and a lovely staff. Super close to the old town square market, restaurants, and cafes. Highly recomend staying there if you are ever in Baia Mare.
