Good, modern hotel. Very good value. Clean, comfortable. About a 5 minute walk to Sendai station (though note, the pedestrian subways around the station are confusing, and not very accessible.) I was very happy with the hotel.

Great town. Nice size - big but but very big, small but only incomprison to very big places - ie more laid back than Tokyo and Osaka etc but more going on than a (picturesque) paddy field. Try the Gyu-tongue set ( or go home really, it is the local thing. very nice)

Unfortunately I was thinking of another hotel when I did my initial review so I badly underscored this hotel. My apologies to Hotel GrandBach - it is an outstanding hotel worthy of a 10 and not the 7 I gave it. Beautiful hotel, modern, clean, wonderful atmosphere, great facilities, amazing onsen, live music, free snacks and beverages in the lounge, friendly and helpful staff, easy location - I can’t commend it more.

Sendai is known as the City of Trees - and for good reason.
Sendai is known as the City of Trees - and for good reason. There's an insane amount of massively large and tall cedar trees everywhere! It's a very easily walkable city and if you need to go to parts beyond there's great transport links, either via the metro, overland train (JR), trams, or even the Sendai City Loople Bus - which takes you around to about a half dozen major attractions - think hop on / hop off.
Must see spots in Sendai are Rinnouji Temple, Zuihoden Mausoleum, Sendai Castle (Aoba Castle), and a little further out of the city (about an hour by train) is Yamadera Temple - not to be missed!
The city is centred around the massive train station in the centre of town and it does not disappoint. There's floors of shopping, restaurants, groceries, fancy food vendors, anything you could want. If you can't find anything in the labyrinthian corridors of the station, venture outside to the over 2500 restaurants and bars. I challenge you to not find something - anything - to satiate yourself with.

I absolutely adored Sendai and will visit again!
I absolutely adored Sendai and will visit again! The only problem that we had was the heat and humidity during the middle of September limited what we could do, but we made the most of our time at the Sendai train station-shopping!, the trees in the area were beautiful (I can see why they call it city of trees), we road the buses quite a bit (air conditioning) so we got to see quite a bit of the city, and made the most of the mall that was near the train station. Felt VERY SAFE there, the only con that I could say would be that unlike Tokyo, there were not to many people who spoke English but we expected that because our daughter works there, however she did most of the translating and figuring out the yen to buy things was actually quite easy, except for the coins. Navigating the trains was pretty easy, the people there knew some english and were quite helpful. It was a wonderful place to do it, very pretty and we will go again next year.
It's a well thought out and equipped hotel in the heart of the city. I appreciated the dual elevators as there was never a wait.
Breakfast was good as always and varied a bit each day.
It's an easy walk from there to Kokubuncho, the nightlife area, and Sendai Station. If you're there from mid-December definitely checkout the Starlight Pageant illumination on Jozenji dori a few blocks to the north.
There's a paid parking lot next door though it isn't cheap- I think it cost me 4200 yen for an overnight stay.
This hotel is a short walk from Sendai station, and is great value for money. The rooms were small but well designed, nice big bathroom area. Nice view of Sendai from the window. Lots of amenities on offer, great location with lots of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Breakfast included. Staff very helpful and friendly and spoke perfect english.
When we booked non-smoking room was not available so we had to book a smoking room but the smoking room we got didn't smell like cigarette at all which we assumed that it was well cleaned and maintained! The hotel was right next to Sendai station and the shopping mall which was very convenience for us to travel around tohoku area using Sendai as a hub.
On arrival we found the room we reserved to be too small for us but reception upgraded us to a very satisfactory size. At a cost of course. Praise to the staff at the desk for the way they handled everything. Very comfortable beds, the shower room was superb and the breakfast was very good. We would recommend the hotel to any one visiting Sendai.
The location of the hotel is highly convenient as it is located just north of Sendai station. The hotel building is well maintained and my room was clean. The cost of the hotel was quite reasonable considering the convenient location. Being right next to a major transit hub allowed me to easily explore quite a few different areas around Sendai.
I loved everything about Sakura Terrace.
The staff, the facilities, cleanliness, location (10mins from Metro and next to TsuTsuJigaoka Park etc), area around the hotel.
Bathrooms and toilet seats are so advanced, exceeded expectations.
Indeed, i found Sendai the best city in Japan because of its calm, soundless and pleasant environment.
The hotel is close to the JR Sendai station with underground passages from the station connecting to a lift and escalator next to the hotel! This is very handy during inclement weather. The room is spotless and fresh. Although I was a solo traveller, I chose the double room as it gave me the spaciousness i needed.
Located about a 10-minute walk from Sendai Station, KOKO Hotel Sendai South is clean, comfortable, and quiet. The rooms are the perfect size, not too small, and the front desk staff is very helpful. The laundry facilities are easy to use too. Hope to stay here again sometime!
Conveniently located near the Sendai train station which is also where many of the bus stations were. 7-Eleven and Starbucks are available just right below the hotel. Hotel looks new with modern aesthetics, and rooms are spacious as compared to most average hotels in Japan.
The hotel is near to Sendai train station. Easy walking distance there.
The 'onsen' in the hotal is great and I enjoyed it very much.
The breakfast is decent based on the price
Overall, a good hotel to stay to explore Sendai
I wasn't a fan of the pillows, BUT other then that, I loved the hotel and would (will) stay there again next year when I come visit my daughter. It was an excellent value! Loved the restaurant attached to the hotel.
The hotel has a European motif, the location was perfect close to everything. The breakfast has a variety of choices. It was satisfying . Overall I would recommend it, and definitely love to stay again.
The location was great, I could walk to the hotel from 2nd floor of Sendai station. Shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom were great, my hair was so soft after using them. I wish I could buy them home.
- Comfortable room
- Great location near Sendai Station
- Very good Japanese breakfast (which you have to book in advance)
- Small snacks and late-night noodles
- Onsen and laundry machines
Nice hotel, around 10 min walk from Sendai Station. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet had lots of different dishes and was delicious.
Close to Sendai Station and shopping arcade. Around with delicious restaurants. Luxury hatel with old fashion hospitality (beautiful Japanese omotenashi) .
