It was a very cozy quiet place. The private Onsens were very relaxing, a short walk to the ski area. The food was amazing!

Super close to the gondola. Basically ski-in ski-out. The owners are really nice and hospitable. They have discounted lift prices and can easily grab rental gear for you. Breakfast was delicious, since food was homemade! The lodge aesthetically is beautiful. They have a room to dry and store all your snow equipment. I’m not sure there’s anything else I can say! This place needs to be gatekept. Hope to be back!

One of my favorite ski resorts in all of Japan is in Otari!!
One of my favorite ski resorts in all of Japan is in Otari!! Tsugaike Kogen. Gorgeous nature, awesome slopes, lots of shops nearby and the ski resort's infrastructure is great!! And you can stay at Hotel La Vista, the best place to stay around Tsugaike, right in front of the lifts.

It is a small village.
It is a small village. There are only a few restaurants to choose from, so if you stayed here a week you would need a car or to take a taxi to eat at some new restaurants. It is close to the Taugaike gondola. We liked skiing Tsugaike and Iwatake because there were nice long runs without moguls connected to high speed lifts. I might stay in Exholand or near Happo-One and then plan on busing to either of these resorts. I’m an intermediate skier, but older and do not care for mogul skiing or real extreme conditions.

Otari is a great place to Ski, Snowboarding and some hiking.
Otari is a great place to Ski, Snowboarding and some hiking. It is prepared to receive foreign people since almost everywhere you can speak English (I am assuming that Chinese as well since I heard a lot of Chinese in the streets).
It is next to Hakuba, you can find good powder snow and different levels of skiing resort.
The staff is helpful and warm. The room is clean and quiet.
It locates at the side of the beginner slope of Tsugaike Goen Ski and offers ski-in ski-out entrance and a dry room. Just note that if u ski down from the top, make sure the end-of-service time of romance lift. You have to climb a small 5 meters hill if u missed the last run of that lift and ski the beginner slope to the hotel.
And sometimes the snow course to the hotel is too powdery and a beginner may lack of the ability to ski to the hotel.
Apart from the fact that the staff were very accommodating, here are the positive points I appreciated during our stay (as a couple):
- our private room was very large and the king-size bed very comfortable.
- everything was clean
- copious breakfast included
- free transport in the morning to go to the slopes or for dinner in town.
- the staff is very friendly
- there's plenty of space to leave your ski gear out to dry.
- the hotel is located at the bottom of Tsugaike station (walking distance)
After a booking error at another location, we booked the last room here at about 7pm the same night. Staff were very gracious and accommodating, accepted our last minute booking and made room for us at dinner. Witnessed impressive language compatibility for a smaller hotel. Hotel was fully booked but facilities (parking, dining, drying room, baths) were perfectly sized to accommodate unlike many other stays we have had elsewhere.
All in one accomodation, has 2 very good restaurants inside. Free shuttle bus that takes you anywhere around the area. Very good continental breakfast. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Ski gear rental place reception inside that will organise to take you and back to the fitting place. Can just leave equipment if you hire with Rythm at the hotel’s boot room.
Loved the location with how close the parking was to the hotel, and from the hotel to the ski lifts. The drying room made it very easy for all of the gear to be ready the next day. Since it is a relatively new hotel, some taxi services didn’t know where it was, but the staff were happy to help with any translation or reservation making.
Location amazing, close to Tsugaike gondola. It's a good idea to choose here instead of Happo One since buses from train station run frequently and stop nearby. The hotel has a cozy restaurant with delicacies made with local ingredients. Room was simple but had everything you need for a snow trip, including a unit bath
Situated right beside the ski slope. Was really convenient for us as we could ski in and out + they provide good ski storage as well. Room was spacious with Japanese vibes & amazing view. Their staff Windy was super helpful. We will definitely be back.❤️
No frills hotel super close to the slope. Comfortable beds, decent breakfast (for an extra fee). A really traditional, old and basic place to stay. But if you’re spending all day on the slopes and the evening at a restaurant then it’s fine.
Our stay at the hotel was very good, nice staffs, the hotel is under new management, we spoke with the new owner in the morning during breakfast, he is planning many good things for the hotel, definitely we will come back again.
Location was fantastic. It was as advertised to be right next to the ski lifts. Bathroom facilities and hotel facilities was good. There was a mix up in equipment storage but the staff were helpful to take care of it.
the english speaking staff is very helpful. breakfast good. provides free coffee, tea and water 24 hours. two minutes walk from ski lift. free car park. unlike most japanese style hotels, bath is in service 24 hours.
Amazingly clean. Friendly staff and the best breakfast we have ever had at a hotel!
Genuine professional hosts who welcomed us and made the stay great. Facilities were excellent - drying room was perfect.
Location was superb. Ski in ski out. Hotel onsens were great after a long day on the mountain. Buffet breakfast and dinner were ok. Good selection of foods but these were pretty much the same every day.
Tatami room has lots of space.Few meters away from the ski lifts and bus station. Convenience store just opposite the hotel. Ski and snowboard rentals just below the hotel. Dry room with private locker.
The location is super close to the slope as well as the shuttle bus station. Staff are very friendly, making me feel like at home. Meals are traditional Japanese food which is tasty.
