Very well located hotel close to Kyoto station, it was a 2 minute walk from the station which is appreciated when you have a large luggage. Also very close to a large shopping centre and several convenience stores. The hotel itself is very modern, having opened only a few years ago and you can tell based on how new and modern the rooms and features are. The amenities are some of the best I have seen in a hotel, it has a laundry room with 5 machines to wash and dry clothes (although they are very popular and can get fully booked during peak time). There is also a gym, and indoor pool / onsen along with two large massage chairs which are charged at ¥300 for a 15 minute massage which is very reasonable.

The hotel is very conveniently located very close to Kyoto’s main railway station. Staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming with good English spoken throughout. Like most Japanese hotels both the room and the hotel generally, were spotlessly clean. The room was a good size for single occupancy. The adjoining restaurant to the hotel provided an excellent, varied buffet breakfast. Other facilities provide within the hotel included vending machines, laundromat and a spa bath area.

It was my first city on the Japan 2-week trip, followed by Nara, Osaka, and Tokyo. I felt it has a great balance of historical sites, food options, pleasant riverside, and modern areas around the Kyoto station.
It was a bit overcrowded even in May, I can imagine the crowds during cherry season.
I skipped some main touristy points like the bamboo forest and the Golden Sth temple as by the reviews they seemed a bit overhyped.
I would suggest 2-3 nights for optimal stay, or more if going on day trips to Uji and Nara.

The lights by the Kyoto station make the city live and lots of people in the surrounding.
Most eateries are pretty small compared to Tokyo, and need to wait for a long time which is not great for tourists as time is extremely valuable as tourists.

Kyoto was excellent we stayed 4 days and the most surprising thing was the food. It was absolutely excellent! It rained for two days so that did hinder tourist visits but we had excellent time. We didn’t do any tours just wandered around - hired a bike - went to temples and the city provided in abundance Ps don’t go to the Bamboo Forest on a Sunday!! Too packed :)

It's generally a very beautiful city, I could spend a whole month there and take my time to see many places which are less crowded...
I went to Kuuya-no-Taki Waterfall - almost no one around all the way and the trip through the magical scented pine trees was soul fulfilling.
The Hozugawa River Boat Ride through majestic scenery and the Romantic train, as well as walking alone along the river - totally worth it. The boat drivers - great entertainers!
Mount Hiei and the temples there - another magical place to experience silence and natural beauty.
Google maps finds you anywhere and points you to the nearest public transport station, so I really appreciate this acuracy and reliability, it matters if you like wondering around the nature on your own... and it's a great and safe way to avoid the crowds...

A vibrant city with so many attractions worth visiting and enjoying. The locals are so polite and helpful it makes tourng around the city so much esier. Unfortunately many others love Kyoto as well and the crowds at key attractions can be duanting I feel for the locals trying to go about their daya to day activities in amongst so many tourists.

Smaller than Tokyo, Kyoto offers more Temples, shrines and gardens with less travel. Use of local buses in recommended, although busy, the fix price, 230yen, makes for good value. Southern Tori gates can be reached on the train. A great area, but long pull to the top for not a great deal of return. Maybe stop at the viewpoints.
The staff was very friendly and did their best to meet any request with a more than satisfactory answer.
We truly recommend taking the half-board option as every meal (breakfast or dinner) was as amazing as it was delicious.
The true Ryokan experience also with our futons which were laid down by the staff while we were eating dinner in the hotel restaurant and these futons were put away while we were having breakfast.
Really amazing Ryokan, notwithstanding the short distance from Kyoto Station, Higashi-Honganji temple and its garden.
The staff is excellent. They are very helpful and attentive. They always greeted us when we would leave the hotel and come back. Very modern and clean facility. The breakfast was the star of the show. The hotel breakfast may have been one of the best meals we have ate on this Japan trip and we have been to Japan multiple times before. We at there twice in 3 days. There is a also a very good grocery store underneath the hotel. This hotel is great for families also. We highly recommend this hotel.
I loved how everything was always kept clean. They also provide free rental pajamas and towels, as well as the basic toiletries. The room was really cozy. I didn’t have that huge of a luggage with me so the space was just right for me. I also am happy that it’s right beside Gojo Station entrance, a McDonalds, and quite a few good restaurants as well! Kyoto Station was also just 15 minutes away.
I’d say, for the price, they’re among the best value for money hotel in Kyoto!
Very good surprise with the séquence Hotel.
It is a moderne boutique-hotel, with quite spacious rooms, very clean and new onsen and sauna (not too crowded) and great location close to the station and in walking distance from multiple temples. 15-30 min wal from Gion area.
The personnel was very helpful and the restaurant (we only had diner once) serving wagyu burgers good quality.
Actually it was the best 4star value for money hotel for our trip in Japan.
The hotel is in walking distance from Kyoto Station and just a 15 minute walk away from Gion. There are some bus stops nearby from where you can easily reach all the sightseeing spots around Kyoto. The breakfast was nothing fancy but good and the free coffee and softdrink bar is definitely a plus. One of the best things was the happy hour! It was super nice to round off the day with free drinks in the lobby and chat with some of the other guests :)
Such a cool arty hotel without being painfully hipsterish (🙄) great location one stop south of Kyoto station but walkable without too much luggage. Staff were friendly and breakfast was absolutely FANTASTIC the best I had in Japan. Quiet and understated with laid back vibe cool longer and bar. A few eateries nearby and and a supermarket (15 mins) but 7/11 and Lawson nearer. Would definitely stay again and thoroughly recommend
The staff smile and help was heartwarming.
Always ready and will do they're best to help.
Inclouding cleaning staff, super polite and concederate.
The location is perfect, train to Osaka and out of Kyoto ia next to the hotel, train for Arashiyama right infront of it. And Kyoto which uses a lot of bus, the station near the hotel makes it feel like central station, you can get anywhere and back very easy.
The staff of Dhawa Yura were all extremely helpful and friendly--likely the best we have experienced in our many many years of travel both domestic and international. Rooms were spotlessly clean. Beds were very comfortable. The location near the center of town, across from a river, near Gion, and next to a subway was perfect. The hotel restaurant was excellent.
Great hostel! I slept in the dormitory and it was comfortable. Generally nice and well kept facilities. Staff was super helpful with luggage forwarding to my next hotel. Location is good for those coming in and out of Tokyo station. It’s located super close to Kyoto Cycle, which was the BEST cycle tour ever!! Highly recommend both.
It's an amazing hotel with just the necessary amenities for a solo traveler! Great location, close to the train station entrances and right next to Nishiki Market Street, one of the best places in Kyoto to buy local omiyage and foods! This was my second time staying and I'll definitely stay again whenever I return to Kyoto!
Perfectly located in the heart and soul of Kyoto, Gion is one of the city's best-preserved historic areas and a great place for experiencing traditional Kyoto. The staff at Gion Ryokan Q-Beh is freindly. The place is clean, light cooking at the kitchen is allowed, coin operated laundry is also available at the hotel.
Best hotel I’ve been so far in Japan! The room is spacious, there is a small kitchen, microwave and fridge… and its own washing machine!
The checkin and checkout process are smooth (no reception at all), and the location is 5 minutes from a metro station and 20 minutes walking from the main Kyoto station.
Perfect!
The location was the best thing about our stay. Directly next to the station, it made our life much easier with commuting. The hotel itself is clean and has all basic neccassities and the people were friendly. hot
I couldn't use the onsen because of my tattoos but I checked it out and it looked nice.
Very well located next to Kyoto Station (main transport hub), nice area of city with lots of places to shop and eat, and convenient to take underground, trains, or buses to major sites. Hotel offers two types of breakfast, Japanese or Western. The Japanese breakfast is definitely best in my opinion.
The facilities provided by Hotel Excellence were truly excellent! The walking distance to Kyoto station was very convenient. The room and bathroom were exceptional clean, and the best was the breakfast and all-day beverages provided.
I highly recommend staying at Hotel Excellence when in Kyoto.
- The location is the best aspect of the hotel - close to lots of temples, Gion district and plenty of restaurants
- The staff are very welcoming and speak good English
- Lights turned off nice and early
- Common area comfortable with projector for films
the best location in the city center. near to the subway station (an exit near to the hotel has an elevator.) also many restaurants near by. a couple convenience stores and supermarkets. We enjoyed a public bath in the hotel, especially cold winter season.
Location is the best of this hotel. It is close to the station, and Kyoto has a great train coverage. If you are looking for a place where you'll only sleep after a long day of walk, it is a good place.
