Very clean rooms, everything brand new renovated , brand new quality beds, pillows and duvets, towels. All the facility were clean, the shared bathrooms had amazing views and good showers. Always enough papers, trash always emptied. Kitchen had everything you need very spacious and clean. We met the hotel manager Lilja she was amazing , she told us history about the place , very easy to reach staff on site. Lilja was more then welcome and educated about the place and herself well traveled around the world. She showed us the old historic elements of the houses. The stay there was so peaceful and homie. This will be a place we will come to again without a question. We had the most amazing time there and there is nothing negative to say about our stay. Amazing environment there and energy was unmatched. What the owners and facility is doing with the place is amazing and inspiration to mix the new with old. We stayed in the apartment and it was lovely and well-appointed. The little patio area in front was so nice since we were blessed with a beautiful day. Sitting outside with a coffee and watching and listening to the birds in the meadow right outside was delightful. We had been in Bakkagerdi earlier in the evening to view the puffins (1 million stars/10 on that experience) and this was the perfect place to spend the night, since it was less than an hour from there but also gave us a little bit of a head start on our clockwise ring road journey for the next day's travels.

I recently stayed at Gistihúsið - Lake Hotel Egilsstadir during a trip to Iceland and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is located in a stunning location overlooking Lake Lagarfljót, and we were lucky enough to spot the Northern Lights during our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, providing us with tips on the best spots to view the Northern Lights and ensuring that we were comfortable throughout our stay. The room was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and all the necessary amenities. The breakfast buffet was also delicious, with a great variety of options to choose from. One of the highlights of our stay was the hot tub facility, which was situated outside with stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. It was the perfect way to relax after a day of exploring the area. Overall, I would highly recommend Gistihúsið - Lake Hotel Egilsstadir to anyone visiting the area. The location, staff, amenities, and Northern Lights spotting opportunities are all excellent, and the hot tub is a fantastic added bonus. I would definitely stay here again.
