Very friendly and helpful staff with a very bright and cheerful greeting at breakfast! Location was excellent as we needed to be in the centre of town and Friars Walk car park was reasonably close if you were driving (in fact parking there after 6 meant the actually cost was only a few pounds rather than the 24 hour rate!). Room was clean and comfortable.

I never imagined a major town in South Wales could be so run down. I checked out of the accomodation a day early and found myself in the High Street around 0830. I had an hour or so here before my train out of town and I saw nothing of interest to a visitor.

First time in Wales for me. Everywhere we went met with friendly people. Even the girl in Next chatted while serving me and laughed with me about my day.Family meal (14 of us) at TGF. Made welcome and served with a smile all evening. Coffee shops also had staff interested in our stories. Pity we live in Perth with 8 hour drive as liked people and places and a return trip maybe when newlyweds have family

The room was good, the pool was out of commission which spoiled the weekend because that made the jacuzzi impossible to gain entrance to due to the amount of people being let down on the pool. Food was perfect.

we were down for a Bridge Congress so not involved with sightseeing. We walked in to Maindee for a meal on Sat evening, expecting a better selection than we found....but an interesting Caribbean Restaurant ( a bit more like a cafe really) but the food was OK and freshly prepared and the price was reasonable

There is a lot to like about Newport and the surrounding countryside. My favourite feature is without doubt the famous 'Transporter Bridge'. You have the choice of numerous venues for both Rugby and Football matches and a great selection of local Parkruns.

We’ve stayed here on a few occasions when business leads us to South Wales. The resort is certainly impressive and we love the large scale of everything, the bar with pianist, the clubhouse restaurant and the sports bar (when open) all add to the stop over experience not offered by other corporate hotels. Breakfast is as comprehensive as you will find anywhere and is worth enjoying. Bedrooms in my experience (other day different) have been great and Elemis toiletries are a treat.

I was upgraded to a Deluxe Double for £10 so that I could check in early. The room was massive and with all amenities . Staff were really friendly and listened to everything we needed including ordering a taxi. Breakfast was excellent and the bar area including music was very good. We were going to the 6 Nations - Wales vs Scotland and the hotel had certainly geared up with Welsh flags , hats etc

This hotel is in a good location, 5-10 minute walk from the town centre. We had to stand outside and call a number for someone to come check us in (luckily it wasn't raining) then our actual room was 4 doors down the road. The room was a good size, clean and quiet. There was an iron, ironing board and hairdryer which were useful little extras. The shower is amazing, really powerful!

The building was lovely, the staff were attentive and kind, and the food was all so delicious! My husband and I were offered a dinner reservation upon check in and I'm so glad we ate at the restaurant in the hotel. It had a unique concept that was such a delicious meal for two jet-lagged Americans. Breakfast was just as tasty as dinner and the staff were all so friendly.

The price was amazing the hotel was clean, the staff super friendly, good breakfast and an adjacent Pub which serves great meals in the evening. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again 15 minutes drive to Cardiff, 10 to Newport was originally going to stay City centre Cardiff but the car parking charges were nearly the same as a night in this hotel.

The room was clean and tidy, had all the basic amenities you need. Staff were super friendly, which is the boost which makes my review more positive to be honest as the hotel itself i would say wasnt the best from what i expect of an IBIS.
