La chambre de la Tour, hotel in Lugon et l’Ile du Carney

Set in Lugon et l’Ile du Carney, La chambre de la Tour offers accommodation with pool with a view, free WiFi and free private parking for guests who drive.

La Chambre de la Tour is a magical place which really caught our imaginations. We slept in a tower with a roaring log fire. The en suite shower room was well appointed. Our hostess suggested a lovely little bistro nearby for dinner, which we greatly enjoyed.

L'HERMITAGE D'ALIENOR, hotel in Lugon et l’Ile du Carney

Located in Lugon et l’Ile du Carney, in a historic building, 26 km from Matmut Atlantique Stadium, L'HERMITAGE D'ALIENOR is a recently renovated bed and breakfast with pool with a view and garden.

In a beautiful serene location. The guesthouse was very big with enough space for us and the dog. The bed was very comfortable. The hosts are an absolute delight and their dog Pepite was so calm and sweet around our young dog. We had the ‘meal tray’ offered for dinner which was brought to us. Was delicious with more than enough food for the two of us. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Chateau de la Vieille Chapelle, hotel in Lugon et l’Ile du Carney

Located in Lugon et L’Ile du Carney and surrounded by the estate vineyards AOC Bordeaux, Château de La Vieille Chapelle is a 12th-Century Roman Chapel offering a garden and terrace with a direct view...

If I could rate this place higher than 10/10 I would… I hope that says it all! I booked this place simply because it was in a location I needed (between Bordeaux and the east), and because it looked calm and cosy. What I found was a tranquil retreat, family owned and run, where I was accepted warmly and made to feel part of the family. Check in was easy, and after id got settled I went out to the garden for a light supper before turning in. There were a few other guests that night in the dining room, but because the day was warm I thought id eat in the garden where they have lots of spaces to dine. Whilst slowly enjoying my supper, complete with a bottle of their own lightly sparkling wine (you have to try it!) Frederic the owner came over and we chatted about a bunch of stuff including family and wine production and how the weather was treating the grapes this year… We chatted for maybe half an hour or so… which I hope tells you that if you enjoy the slow life, and are open to spending time just enjoying and engaging, then you’ll love it here. The garden outside is tree shaded and faces West, so watching the sun set over the Dordogne River, it’s a beautiful thing. In terms of facilities etc, of course its a family run b and b, but the room and bed etc were excellent, and I slept soundly… and the breakfast in the morning was simple, but all the produce was fresh and of very good quality.

Kyriad Libourne Saint Emilion, hotel in Lugon et l’Ile du Carney

Kyriad Libourne Saint Emilion is located on the outskirts of Libourne and is just a 10-minute drive from the vineyards of Saint-Emilion, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and 30 km from Bordeaux.

Easy to get to, we wanted to be near St Emilion, this was a little further away than we thought, about a 15 minute drive. Rooms a little on the small side, but spotless and clean.

Hôtel de France, hotel in Lugon et l’Ile du Carney

A 3-star hotel located less than a 5-minute walk from Libourne train station and set in a former coaching inn, Hôtel de France offers a garden and a furnished terrace.

First room was in the main building but the heating was broken and so we were moved to the annexe. A good sized room and cosy even although it backed onto the road. Good breakfast. Parking is tight but okay. Great location near the centre of town.

Logis Hôtel de la Tour, hotel in Lugon et l’Ile du Carney

Featuring 2-star accommodation, Logis Hôtel de la Tour is situated in Libourne, 29 km from Chaban Delmas Bridge and 29 km from La Cite du Vin.

This was our first visit & we wd be likely to use this hotel again. The rooms are in the process of refurbishing; ours was complete and was very attractively presented. Dining and public areas are similarly comfortable and attractive. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast; the chef was very able. The staff were courteous, friendly and helpful; one being fluent in English, which was most helpful.

This is a really good place with charming, helpful, informative owners who are on site. We were fortunate to have the pool and garden - both of which are delightful - to ourselves for the first few days but otherwise it is a shared space with the owners and any guest at the other gite. Our kids love the table tennis table. It is extremely well situated for Bordeaux, and all the surrounding sites. Go to the Base Sous Marines - ex U boat base now an art installation, which is fantastic. Lots else around as you would imagine in wine country. Highly recommended and good value for money.

The room in the tower is rustic, tiled floors throughout, open fireplace and latch wooden doors, no handles! There are three parts to the room, an entrance area with kettle etc, and a couple of chairs, the shower/toilet room and the bedroom. There is a nice towel warming radiator in the shower/toilet room. There was a kettle, glasses, cups, tea and coffee. Although Delphine was not giving us dinner she offered to lend us plates and cutlery if we were providing our own. Views are of open countryside and vineyards. For us the bed was a little small - my husband is over six feet tall and even I could reach the bottom of the bed with my feet. You could hear the family moving past the connecting door on occasions, it didn't bother us that much. There was also some noise from the room above ours, not much but it was there. Breakfast was as is usual in France, bread, croissant, jams, yoghurt with a little meringue, juice, and tea/coffee/chocolate. We sat outside to eat our dinner and enjoy some wine. It was so peaceful, all you could hear were the pigeons!
