Loft by the Lake offered the most peaceful time in rural Sri Lanka, surrounded by beautiful tanks and paddy fields. Situated in an idyllic spot by the Ehetuwewa tank, the Loft was cosy and comfortable with great views of the surrounding area. The caretakers, Mahinda and Sunitha looked after all our needs with a smile. They made sure that we had delicious Sri Lankan meals and also accompanied us to a quiet spot to watch the sunset and to find the best bathing spots. Because there was no light pollution, the night skies were beautiful! And the dawn chorus offered us the most unusual bird calls! Bird life was in abundance and a family of Grey Hornbills (alu kadatta) flying right in front of our eyes was a fascinating experience :) We will be back soon to explore more!

Ik heb er geen woorden voor. Vanaf het moment dat je aankomt weet je dat je je op een plek bevindt die zo bijzonder is. Het uitzicht, de natuur, de geluiden van het oerwoud, de mensen die er werken. Dit is gewoon een stukje paradijs waar je zo in contact staat met de natuur dat je onmiddellijk tot rust komt. We deden een prachtige hike met onze gids door het oerwoud naar een kleine tempel op een grote rots. Wat een zicht!!! Je komt niemand anders tegen. De zonsopgangen en zonsondergangen zijn adembenemend. Alles wordt klaargemaakt met ingrediënten uit de tuin en omgeving. Wat een ervaring. Wij komen sowieso terug. Hopelijk kunnen jullie dit zo houden want dit verblijf liet een enorme indruk op ons na. Volledig gedeconnecteerd en opgeladen❤️
