We spent one of the most spectacular holidays at La Chachalaca, away from the noise and the everyday rush of city life. It is the perfect place for a mountain getaway. La Chachalaca is nested in the forested hills of El Valle de Antón, in a small, secluded valley, not too far from the town, and a hiking trail with amazing vistas. Accomodations are beyond cozy and lovely, and our host was beyond friendly and helpful. Their garden is absolutely gorgeous. We watched a stunning sunset. We saw clouds fly above our heads and stars shine in a blanket of jet. We spotted oropendolas, toucans and hummigbirds from our balcony. Highly recommended; you will fall in love with this place!

El dondejosé se encuentra en Valle de Antón, a 46 km de Santa Clara, y ofrece bicicletas de uso gratuito y wifi gratis. Location was excellent, with comfortable beds and all the required amenities in good working order. Perfect for our 3 night stay. It’s a 5 min walk to a good size supermarket, 15 mins to the main ‘downtown’ Avenida with restaurants and the mercado. 3 amazing hikes to the top of the ancient caldera, and the butterfly farm is a must see. We were able to park our car inside their gate, and the home is a 15 min walk to access one of the 3 primary hikes in the area, India Dormida. Jose and his partner, Liz, are wonderful hosts, and made us feel like family. The breakfast is simple and filling, and we could use their fridge and also made a meal or two using the kitchen facilities. Jose and Liz are gracious hosts and Jose is very witty. They made our time there a truly fun and memorable experience. Communication was excellent, in English and Spanish, despite my spouse and I having very limited Spanish language skills. Local knowledge, tips, and recommendations on things to do in the area were great and super appreciated. Finally, Jose joined us on one of our hikes and he made it super fun and interesting with his knowledge of local flora and fauna. The dogs and cats of the property was such a delight and host Gordon was fabulous 🥰🤩
