The place is more than just a hotel, it's an experience. Great for relaxation. The looks outside, the looks inside, the comfort, big modern bathroom, cleaniness.. they kept the medieval style but merged it with modern comfort. On top of that dinner and breakfast in that amazing dining room, cosy balcony looking out the yard, the views of sunset from the hotel, and two rooftop terraces with both sunrise and sunset views, where we could hang out after the checkout. And then, the spa, with water beds, a lot of bubbles in different directions, and a Finnish sauna. They also offer massages. The prices for all those extras were fair. The small town was pleasant, the hotel being the focus point. A lot of streets that are going steeply up and down.

This beautiful 17th-century building is located in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Úbeda, next to Santa Clara Convent. Its elegant rooms feature free WiFi and a flat-screen TV. This is an extraordinary hotel. It is a beautifully restored 16th Century building. The common area is magical. My room was very comfortable. Breakfast was a gourmet treat. It is individually served, not a buffet. This is luxury at an affordable price. And the hotel is right in the heart of the old city.

Hotel Carmen Boutique is a four stars acommodation that blends a historical 19th-century building with contemporary minimalist design. Wow! What a gem. It’s worth double what we paid. Not one flaw. They served us breakfast (no buffet). Fruits, croissants, coffee, bread, cheese, meats, etc. Easy parking. Lovely staff.

Nestled in Andalusia’s mountainous countryside and surrounded by forest and with a great outdoor pool and private lake, this rustic retreat is the perfect country getaway. If you want to get away close to nature then this is a good spot. It has a Hunting lodge style with a good restaurant and bar beside a large veranda where you can watch the scenery, have a glass of wine and listen to nature. Rooms are rustic and comfortable. We had a small balcony to let us sit and watch over the valley. Staff are all very nice and cheerful. We had a half board package at a very reasonable price. The menu selection was good as was the food. Portions were very generous. There's a pack of tame geese to provide some entertainment and amusement when they go on parade around the artificial lake. You can travel to local nature spots but we just went on the local walk along the bank of the Guadalquivir. We saw some deer, jays, nutthatch, crossbills and terrapins. We could hear green woodpeckers calling but didn't get a glimpse. We only stayed two nights but there seems to be plenty to see for a longer trip. The views on the drive from Cordoba were pretty spectacular. It's a typical mountain drive with a good surface but a winding road with a long climb. The parking there is fine. We didn't use the pool but it looked good. The drive North along the river towards Murcia is pleasant also. So a very enjoyable stopover.

On top of the Santa Catalina hill, this 18th-century castle has been beautifully renovated keeping its huge stone walls and many historical features to make for an authentic stay in Jaén. This is a truly incredible place. The food is also spectacular.

Set within Las Sierras Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Nature Reserve, Coto del Valle de Cazorla is 3 km outside Arroyo Frío. It offers a spa and a peaceful setting close to the Guadalquivir River. The massage, spa and especially the floatarium were great.
