Clean room, nice breakfast, friendly staff. We traveled from there to Edinburgh. We left something important and the staff took time to overnight it to our hotel in Edinburgh. Such a special and appreciated service!
Built in 1854, this hotel was once the High School of Stirling. Less than 10 minutes’ walk from the city’s historic castle, it has an AA Rosette-awarded restaurant and free parking.

Lovely town! We were sorry to be here for only one night.
Lovely town! We were sorry to be here for only one night. We should have stayed two, as there were a few other attractions that we did not get to see. We loved the castle, Church of the Holy Rude and the cemetery.

Stirling exceeded our expectations. It was rich in history.
Stirling exceeded our expectations. It was rich in history. The locals were very friendly and helpful. There was a wide variety of restaurant options. Even the thrift stores were top notch. There were several options to enjoy entertainment. We highly recommend the Settle Inn (on St. Mary’s Wynd) the oldest ale house in town (300+yrs). We were very moved by the traditional folk music performed by the locals. We also recommend joining in on one of the free guided tours in the Castle. It’s a great way to get to know the gossip of the royals and renegades.

There is so much to see and to absorb if you love history and want to know where your ancestors came from. Essential: talk to people wherever you go. There is so much to learn from those who staff the historic sites! Dee and Trisha were great sources of info. See Holy
Rude Church and the connected graveyard. Wow! Always ask for the hidden or less seen places. The Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum is a quirky gem. (It has the oldest known football.) Things to remember: walking is great, but challenging. Taking a taxi sometimes makes you miss some of the things, however, like going through the graveyard at Holy Rude.

I really liked Stirling however the stress of being unable to access the Mar Apartment as pin to access was not sent and which we had paid for through Booking.com and having to go searching for alternative accommodation at 8pm was the most stressful and upsetting thing I have ever experienced on holiday. The owner was uncontactable although I tried to call her 20 times and sent several emails and Booking.com did not help just kept saying to ring the owner. The situation has become even more upsetting as both Booking and the owner of the Mar Apartment are refusing to refund my money. Will never return to Stirling. Will never use Booking.com again. Awful experience.

Stirling is a lovely area.
Stirling is a lovely area. The castle is really interesting but there is a lot of walking on cobbles. We are getting on a bit so found it a bit uphill and down dale but well worth a visit. 20 minutes drive from Stirling are The Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel. The Kelpies are amazing and if you book a tour they take you inside, a must for any engineer. Falkirk Wheel is more interesting watching from outside but is an absolute master in engineering. Stirling town centre had a lovely shopping Mal we just found it busy and difficult to park.
The hotel is centrally located next to the Stirling Castle. The building seems very old, with bizarre but very nice architecture inside, looks rely astonishing and very beautiful. Room is very big and nicely decorated, with good tea and coffee package available. Unfortunately, we didn`t manage to have breakfast, since we had an early flight, but we visited hotels bars and restaurant in the evening for a couple of drinks, which was also very nice and positive experience. Additional benefit, is huge private car parking next to the hotel.
One of the better places on my road trip.
Surprisingly friendly in an off beat genuine way.
Close to the centre and cheap Indian restaurants.
Good parking.
Quite idiosyncratic and funny in lots of ways.
Very good breakfast at an unbeatable price.
I liked the wardrobe that did not have a door. Generally, I do not use hotel furniture because I am scared of leaving stuff behind.
The area was full of old and interesting buildings. (Shame about the George Christie clock tower, that the Council demolished under cover of darkness).
A very old hotel with a lot of character, you won't get cold here with super heated rooms!
The room without a view was very comfortable and bed was excellent, good nights rest.
Spotless clean room - nothing to fault.
Breakfast was cooked to order (full Scottish) and a top host to sort it out - full marks for that lass.
That was the best I had in traveling back to Scotland from Folkstone.
Parking on the property was a bonus - not the best of off street parking but excellent to get the car off the main drag.
Car parking is included in the overnight price which is fantastic as it is right next to the town centre! The rooms are comfortable and the bar area downstairs is a great place to chill with friends and have a few drinks! The staff are very helpful and the breakfast is very tasty! The Castle and Stirling jail are very close with the Wallace monument only a mile away! Really enjoyed. our stay and we will return soon.
Very comfortable, cosy house. Every need catered for. Lovely garden. Extremely comfy beds. Good location within easy reach of Stirling city centre and places of interest. Lots of booklets etc provided on Scotland and a comprehensive guide to Stirling and the accomodation rules. Welcome basket with breakfast essentials a really lovely touch.
We had a brilliant stay at the Stirling highland hotel. It was a discounted rate so it was excellent value. We loved the pool & the food was excellent for the price. Location is perfect and it’s a short walk to the shops etc. I had my young child with me & I was impressed how family friendly the hotel is. Definitely will return!
The Golden Lion Hotel was in a great location in the centre of Stirling. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and our room was very comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant and would highly recommend the haggis Bon bons as a starter. Our main course was also very good. Would definitely stay here again.
We didn’t plan on being in Stirling, but it ended up being the highlight of our trip. The hotel is located centrally and the breakfast downstairs was delicious! The staff were very kind and accommodating. The room was cozy, clean, and lent itself to a wonderful evening of rest.
We booked 3 king deluxe rooms for a family celebration. The rooms were lovely . The hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel is perfectly located for all amenities to Stirling and surrounding areas. This is our second stey and would highly recommend this hotel.
The setting is fantastic, perfectly central to plan a tour of Scotland! A big kitchen and plenty of living space means you feel at home, rather than a hotel/hostel. Keys were easy to locate, communication with the hosts was excellent, very clear and helpful.
Location is amazing with spot on view on the Wallace Monument from hotels terrace and lake with amazing greenfield to walk around. 5 minutes driving distance to Stirling city centre. Staff was very helpful to resolve our concerns.
The lets are on farmland on the outskirts of Stirling . Really peaceful area with bus stop 1 minutes walk away to take you into Stirling City Centre. (5 min ride). Very friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Fantastic location, not too far from Stirling city centre.
Friendly staff who are extremely accommodating.
The children loved the play area and seeing the horses from the Equestrian Centre.
Everything. Property was beautiful, well maintained, comfortable and well located to Stirling and surrounding area. Hannah was a wonderful host. We loved Finlay her son and Molly the dog.
The place was amazing, it was clean and quiet. The location is amazing and you can visit many beautiful places such as the Wallace monument and the Stirling castle. Amazing experience!
It was very close to the train station. You get a full featured apartment for less then the cost of a hotel room. The people of Stirling were friendly and very helpful.
The location is perfect to explore Stirling!
You can tell the apartment has been updated and modern.
The host did a wonderful job with communicating prior to arriving.
Nice spacious room, good breakfast served by friendly staff, good location in centre of Stirling with convenient car park right next to rear entrance of the hotel.
