The second you arrive in the airport, you can feel the easing pace from the chaos of Cairo. They have done a lot of work on Luxor since I was last there 15yrs ago. The tourist sights are now regulated by fair government prices, security is top-notch, and they have better toilet facilities. There is less harassment in these areas now.
The trip wouldn't be the same with floating down the Nile, a camel ride, the local coffee shop, market, and of course, the temples and tombs. The people are friendly. Just ignore anyone who tries to hustle you.

So much of what I know about ancient Egypt, the pharaohs & history is found in this awesome place. Too much to see in 3 days.
We had a private guide which helped loads including adjusting our sightseeing plans to include things we knew nothing about. Valley of nobles & workers are both worth adding in, not just the kings. The hot air balloon ride was well worth the extra as was the evening light & sound show.
Travel was easy in a private car.
We mostly ate at the hotel because the food was so good.

Luxor is an amazing location, feels almost like an Italian city, with the antiquities in the heat of the city, the wide river and river boats.
We met really nice people, but unfortunately met a few scammers too.
Shopping can be a bit of a hassle, with people pulling you in. I gave up and shopped in Cairo instead.

A beautiful city, my second trip following a trip last November to valley of the kings. I wanted to come back just to see the city and it didn’t disappoint. I just wish I had had more time than 2days, 1 night… I will be back to lovely Luxor. A surprise around every corner…

The hot air balloon was really the highlight of our tour in Luxor. No one should miss it along with the visits to the Valley of the Kings, Queens and Hatshetsup Palace. Downtown Luxor was also a must-see specially the old market place and the Luxor Temple and don't forget about the local food.

Luxor's archaeological sites are the most impressive I've ever seen. They are spectacular.
I went in April, in spring, and the temperature reached 38 degrees Celcius. The locals told me that in summer the temperature will be around 50 degrees.
The population appears to be very poor and the city is poorly maintained.

One of the things that I liked the most about the Cleopatra Hotel was the kindness and constant concern for our comfort and well-being. Nasser and Mahmoud are the best hosts we have met in Egypt. They made us feel like family. Very special, transparent and trustworthy people. The hotel facilities are very comfortable and it is located a few minutes walk to the local Nile ferry station. Good breakfast. The hotel offers tour and transportation options in Luxor at a good price. Highly recommended and we would stay at Cleopatra Hotel again.
The room was huge, the kitchen had everything you will need a washing machine too. The property is right on the nile so you can take the public ferry for 5 pounds across the nile. Yassar hosted me and he was wonderful, he invited me to his home and showed real Egyptian hospitality by cooking for me free of charge and handing me drinks. If you have extra time go on a tour with yassar outside of the main sites to the desert its a unique exprience that 99% of tourists who visit Luxor will not see
Beautiful small hotel. Breakfast is always plentiful with Egyptian foul, omelette and lots of dips. Very delicious food. Everyone and especially Mr Said, the manager, is super helpful with everything concerning tours and rides. Prices are reasonable. The hotel lies on the quieter West Bank. Taking the Hotel Tuctuc for 50 EGP to the ferry and then getting to the other side for 10 EGP is my preferred way to get to the city. Everything was easy and we enjoyed a relaxing week there.
the variety of colorful and delicious breakfast was excellent daily we did enjoy eating breakfast under great vibe of wonderful music on live from the Egyptian pianist he was a true legend also I would like to say thanks to our server Madam Samah without her we did not know how to get our coffee ( coffee-late)yes indeed we appreciate every one whom we deal with directly once again all the staff was so friendly if we get another opportunity we will back to Ramses hotel
This is a perfect way to spend holidays in Egypt. You can see many remarkable sites: Abu Simbel, Edna, Luxor, ... without having to hop from hotel to hotel. And you can also relax on the upper deck, while taking in magnificent views. The Le Fayan boat is very nice, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. You can buy per-arranged excursions or plan your own through them or any other agency. We came with two teenage kids, and they both enjoyed it very much too.
The views to Luxor Temple and Winter Palace at sundown were spectacular. The village atmosphere and friendliness and dedication of the staff there is exceptional. This was my first time in Egypt, and as a solo female, the whole atmosphere at Villa Sunrise was so welcoming and safe it made the whole experience so special. The rooms are apartments so have laundry and cooking facilities too if you want but the meals in the restaurant are great!!!
I picked the hotel for its convenient location. I enjoyed it so much because of the owner and staff. Food was excellent and generous. Also the room and outside sitting areas were so peaceful. Room was traditional Egyptian. It is a small hotel but central to everything. I could see the colossus of memnon from my room.
I stayed at five hotels on this trip. This was the lowest price. This was my favorite. I was very happy here.
Great breakfast buffet, beautiful view right on the Nile, comfortable soft beds, solid wifi, good drink menu at the bar, friendly staff. The best place I stayed in all of Egypt when I was there for 17 days in 5 different cities. The price was unbelievably low too, I thought I was dreaming, this is a 5 star resort at great prices.
The staff was absolutely professional and great especially check in and the baggage guys.
This property is close to Luxor temple on east bank. Quite in the middle of all activity.. Good thing about the hotel is their staff they compensate for every small little fault you may find with the property like no elevator.
Hence it is a highly recommended hotel. Their roof top is extraordinary. We thoroughly liked and enjoyed it. Their Breakfast spread was the best we had in Egypt.
Highly recommended
We had a lovely stay at Cleopatra Hotel, unfortunately only for one night. The staff was really welcoming and helpful. A big thanks also to Mahmut for the nice Egyptian Breakfast on the wonderful rooftop terrace with a view on the Temple of Hatschepsut.
Located at Westbank, it's a comparable calm location but a very good starting point for a visit to the valley of the kings etc.
Definitely to recommend!
The whole property is super quiet, nice. The location of the hotel is just perfect, close to Valley of the kings, and just 30 minutes away from Luxor international airport. Situated in an authentic part of Egyptian countryside. The swimming pool is also great (clean, etc) and restaurant is also serving great food. The whole staff was very good too. It worth beyond 10 out of 10
Everything was awesome. Staff are very kind and helpful, they made reservations for the tours with very good prices and make you feel like at home. The hotel is clean and the room is good! The localization is perfect, you can go walking to Luxor and Karnak and is also beside the market. Breakfast is very good too. The best place we've stayed in Egypt!!!
The breakfast is amazin Lee Ali and Zuzuamuzu were super kind waiters !
Rooftop terrace is nice to visit and to have a tasty egyptian dinner there.
The Hotel is in the center close to Bazar, Luxortemple and everything else. Amazing location for travelers intereted in sightseeing.
Room is big and clean.
This hotel has it all! We absolutely loved our stay. In fact, we loved it so much, we came back for another reservation. The hosts are amazing and so helpful. As a female traveler in Egypt, I was nervous, but the hosts made me feel very comfortable and safe. We had an amazing stay in Luxor!
Our stay in the Old Nile Hotel was really great. It's a nice and quiet place and Mostafa the owner is the most welcoming host. He can give you great advice on Luxor and surroundings or even book excursions for you if you want.
Also we had the most delicious egyptian food in all our trip !
The hotel is amazing! Really beautiful place, with a lot of plants and good decoration. The staff was extremely accommodating, letting me do an early check-in and even offering me breakfast. I loved the fact they separated trash - which was the only place in Egypt I saw this happening!
Our stay was amazing. Hany did book an amazing day trip to the Valley of the kings with Michael, and Michael was extraordinary, an exceptional Egyptologist with vast knowledge. Truly a game changer. I cant recommend this hotel enough.
Thank you Hany! Thank you Michael!
This is the best hotel we had in Egypt.
Everything is very clean, bedsheets, towels, no stains on the carpet.
Beautiful pool on the upper floor overlooking luxor temple and Nile. 5 minutes walking to the Go Bus stop.
Good breakfast.
Very good value for money.
Beautiful hotel with spacious rooms and a peaceful location on the Nile. Breakfast was good especially by Egyptian standards. The staff were all very friendly and eager to help. Overall the experience felt luxurious and special, and very good value for money
Breakfast was great with an amazing view of the Nile. Staff here are all some of the best we had in Egypt. Ate dinner twice at restraunt...fantastic. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Located beside a market and two minutes walk to Luxor Temple
