Absolutely stunning location on the banks of Lake Como in gorgeous, tiny Varenna. Our room had an incredible view of this magical lake and surroundings. Breakfast on the terrace of the restaurant was a lovely treat. Staff is efficient and helpful; although I speak Italian their English is perfect so this make it very easy to communicate re eg ferry schedules, etc.

Surrounded by botanic gardens, Hotel Villa Cipressi, by R Collection Hotels is right on the shores of Lake Como. It offers a gourmet restaurant, en suite rooms, and an extensive breakfast.

It was a very short walk from the train station which was really convenient for making the most out of our trip. We had the most amazing view of the lake and mountains from the superior double lake view room. We still can not get over it! Very old Italian decor throughout the hotel. We highly recommend the breakfast, it was delicious! An array of croissants and continental foods to choose from with eggs and pancakes to freshly order. It was so useful having the ferry port right opposite as we were able to buy our ferry tickets first thing without queuing. We could hear the ferry announcements from our room but it did not disturb us when the doors were shut. The staff were so friendly and happy to assist and look after our luggage on our last day.

Super close to the train station. Literally next to the exit with just 1 min walk. It’s also a close walking distance to the pier to hop on the boat to other islands. The place is very nice, cozy and modern. Well cleaned. Sofa bed is very comfortable and big unlike other places. There’s snack (biscuits, macaron), tea and water to welcome us. There’s a microwave in the kitchen with all the kitchenware. Bathroom is well equipped with amenities. Water pressure is strong. The owner is also super nice and helpful. He stood in front of the place to make sure we find the place. When we msg him to ask something at night, he offered to come by to help and we’re very glad.

Elisa is extremely kind to relocate us to another of her room right at the centre of Varenna as there was vacancy and the view of lake como from the balcony and rooftop was stunning! It was a perfect stay with free toiletries, hairdryer etc. and great breakfast! (honestly rare to see free breakfast provided so definitely a plus point)

Location is superb - just a minute or two from the Varenna waterfront or the main square. I had 80 and 75 year old parents with me and they were able to enjoy the town without too much trouble (whereas many other accomodations are too far up the hill or too many steps). On more than one occasion when the weather turned I was able to quickly run up the steps from a waterside cafe to fetch my parents a cap or some sunscreen from the apartment and I'd be back sat down in a few minutes. Host has a wine shop next door and welcomed my family of 5 (one of us stayed elsewhere) with a lovely glass of white wine each. Very nice way to start our trip. Also provided us with a discount on some wine purchases which we enjoyed drinking during some movie nights in the apartment (they had Netflix and Amazon Prime!). Clean apartment and a nice view from one of the windows (can see the lake), while the others face down on the cobblestoned alleyway where you can watch the world go by. Good instructions beforehand on locating and accessing the property - I communicated with the host on WhatsApp a few days ahead of my arrival. In the end I was able to access the apartment using the keysafe without any trouble, but after dropping my stuff off I ended up meeting the host at his wineshop next door not too long after.
