33 km from Koibito Misaki Cape in Shimoda, 横川温泉湯殿ととのゆ provides accommodation with access to a hot spring bath, hot tub and open-air bath. We will be back! WOW. This was a shot in the dark booking since I couldn’t find a place near the beach that was tattoo friendly. We were blown away at the facility, amenities and overall beauty of the location. I booked 3 rooms. Everyone had their own private onsen bath. My husband and I upgraded to the sauna barrel room and we LOVED IT. The guys all did sauna in the morning. They even give you handmade authentic sauna hats. Breakfast was simple but filling. Half of the group did the Japanese style, half did American. My jumbo toast made me feel like I was in a Ghibli movie having breakfast. There is a vending machine in the breakfast area was a variety of snacks and drinks. Our van made it on the roads to the property. So a standard vehicle will have no issue. Beautiful creak flowing in the backyard of every room. Every room has an entrance, toilet & sink room, living room (doubles as bedroom bc you have tatami beds), vanity sink & rack, THEN sliding door to your shower & bath, THEN sliding door to your porch with seating. Our room had the barrel immediately to the left of the porch with ANOTHER outdoor tub. Price was excellent!!

Syukaen Yunohanazen is set in Atami, 27 km from Hakone-Yumoto Station, 29 km from Shuzen-ji Temple, and 43 km from Mount Daruma. The 4-star ryokan features sea views and is 1.2 km from Atami Sun... Two different hot spring baths, nice spread of food served to room for breakfast and dinner. Friendly staff but a bit weak on speaking English.

Set less than 1 km from Shuzen-ji Temple, Oni no Sumika offers 5-star accommodation in Izu and features a garden. Private parking is available on site at this recently renovated property. The staff was very nice and helpful. The private bath was fantastic with an open garden! The room was very comfortable and spacious with a garden view. Very pretty. I would have stayed longer.

Atami Sekaie is set in Atami, 2.5 km from Atami Sun Beach, 25 km from Hakone-Yumoto Station, as well as 36 km from Shuzen-ji Temple. Full disclosure - this place is much fancier than the places we typically stay. It's expensive - but it was worth every yen. The facilities are luxurious. The food is an absolute marvel - creative, beautifully presented, and delicious. The private onsen on our balcony overlooking the ocean is the perfect way to relax. And the staff were all so incredibly kind to us and our children (especially Mayu). Our few days here were amongst the very best we had in Japan. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing, memorable splurge.

AWA Nishi-Izu offers a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 12 km of Mount Daruma and 20 km of Shuzen-ji Temple. The concept of the hotel was really interesting and unique. We enjoyed the free drinks while sitting in the library, it was a relaxing treat. Our room was nice and clean, and the staff were friendly and accommodating to English speakers. They even helped us get a reservation at a nearby restaurant, which was delicious.

Set 10 km from Shuzen-ji Temple, Yumeguri no Yado Yoshiharu offers 5-star accommodation in Izunokuni and has a garden. Friendly staff, beautiful hotel, food was so unique and delicious. The whole thing was an experience. Also recommend the private bath in room

Located in Higashiizu, 35 km from Shuzen-ji Temple, Izu Hokkawa Seaside Guesthouse 伊豆北川の家 has a private beach area, private parking and rooms with free WiFi access. The host is super nice and friendly! The room is out of our expectations! We would like to stay for another time!
