The units are equipped with heating facilities. Itsumu was a wonderful blend of traditional ryokan and modern hotel. Our room was a beautiful, pristine tatami mat style with comfortable futon beds. Dinner was excellent and beautifully presented, as was breakfast. They even provided my five year old daughter with beautiful meals designed to appeal to children. The onsen was simple but beautiful, with a semi-outdoor bath overlooking a lovely garden. We would very happily stay here again.

Fulsato features a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 16 km of Shigarai Ski Area and 44 km of Kitakami Station. The property has mountain and river views. The ryokan features family rooms. My wife & I stayed at Fulsato for one night on a Tohoku ski trip driving from Geto Kogen to Tazawako. We’ve stayed at many Ryokan on our trips to Japan and this was likely the best one. From the moment we arrived the staff was so kind and helpful. We got a room overlooking the river with our own private bath in the balcony. The other public baths were nice esp the outdoor one. The room was well thought out and immaculately clean. The best part was the food! Both the dinner and breakfast were kaiseki style and the presentation and flavors were amazing. The price was higher than we usually pay but it felt like a total value.

This 3-star ryokan features a spa experience, with its public bath and open-air bath. There is a restaurant serving Japanese cuisine, and free private parking is available. Amazing breakfast and dinner - we were never hungry! There was even an option to have a late-night meal from 9 to 10 pm. The reception was very friendly and even with limited English, they went out of their way to help make our stay as comfortable as possible. There was a shuttle bus to and from Appi Kogen ski resort and the train station. However, these need to be booked beforehand.
