How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Quick walk to the beach, Die Plekkie restaurant, the little shops & the Fairy Village. Our host Laetitia was extremely helpful and friendly. Perfect space for a group or family get away. We loved everything about the property ~ highly recommended.

Verified reviewThe Host asked for a R 1000-00 additional deposit on arrival. We paid the deposit. The host did a final inspection on the check-out and were happy and we gave the key back. We received an email two days after we checked out claiming damages that we know nothing about!! We are really disappointed in this action and will not recommend the property.

On the website is states the following: Guests pay a damage deposit of: ZAR1000 Collect your damage deposit by: Bank transfer I have sent you mails regarding the deposit twice (on the 9th and the 11th) but you did not response. That is why the host asked you on your arrival. The host did get the keys from you, but she could not see if anything was damage as the house were not in a state for her to do a final inspection. If she was to do a final inspection, she had to clean the house first, that is why on the site it says that deposit will be paid back up to 7 days after check-out, The house was cleaned by the cleaners and then only was reported about the damages. I can assure you we will not leave damage items in the house for our guest, this never happened before and will not happen in the future. I feel to give a bad review just because you are not happy regarding the items that I need to replace. is unfair.

Verified reviewThe property was beautiful. Amenities suited our needs and wants perfectly. Big screen tv was great, as we could watch the WC cricket & rugby from multiples areas in the house! Layout of the house also allowed us to have different chill/chat areas, while still being together as a family. We were also allowed a late check-out, which was great as we didnt have to rush to get back on the road again. The coffee machine was a nice touch. Also, the wood was plentiful! The Bay is beautiful & the beach had the most amazing unspoilt views.
We did get lost on the way there. GPS took us to the back entrance. But that’s on us. The property manager sent us a location ping before the time. This worked much better.
So happy to hear you had an amazing time and Zeezicht could have been part of such a wonderful birthday and memories that will last forever. Hope to see you soon again.

Verified reviewExcellent location, short stroll away from a great restaurant and spectacular views at sunset. We enjoyed our stay tremendously. Checking in and out was easy. The house was very clean with lovely linens. The furnishings in the house is of great quality and the decor very beautiful.
Maybe hand soaps can be refilled before guests arrival and some basic dry store goods like foil, firelighters, etc. Fresh washing up sponge for guests. A basic welcome pack would be nice too, like coffee beans inside the machine and a few basics. The house was cleaned well, but it is lacking in attention to detail with the little comforts you would expect from a property like this. We really enjoyed our stay, but these things would have given a more luxurious feel to the property.
