Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaIt's 20km outside of Prince Albert and it's on a sand road.
The place is neat and well run. The facilities are all first class. Just remember this is a self catering establishment. Braai packs and other items are available from the owners.

AustriaWe should have booked at least two nights to hike and enjoy this lovely place & area!
A very nice place a few kilometers from Prince Albert. We had a lovely time and would have liked to stay longer. The common area with kitchen & living room is very well equipped. We booked two rooms for our boys and us. You will meet a lovely host couple and their dogs. Our boys (6 + 8) played for hours with them. The night sky was also breathtaking. If you look for a quiet, cosy place in the midst of the Karoo, look no further!

South AfricaThe only thing I didn’t like was no soap in the bathroom. I’m not referring to shampoo etc. I’m referring to some sort of soap to wash your hands
Very peaceful and out of the way. Stopped en-route to Cape Town so arrived at 9pm and left early the next morning. It was purely a pit stop. Comfortable place, location is not bad as it’s a farm

South AfricaAll good.
This is the third time we have visited this lovely place. A tranquil spot on a quiet road between Leeu Gamka and Prince Albert. Wide, open countryside with spectacular sunsets from the braai area, surrounded by windmills. Easy walks in the adjacent nature reserve where you can experience the unique beauty of the Karoo. On a two hour walk we saw plenty of springbok and some zebras and Blesbok, quite close up. Erina and Johan are wonderful hosts, providing for our every need. If you enquire beforehand, they will provide you with braai packs and salads so you do not need to stop and shop along the way. The basics (coffee, tea, sugar, salt, etc.) are provided. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a fridge and kettle in the room for your morning coffee or tea. Just add a bottle of your favourite wine and you have all you need.

South AfricaAll good. No complaints.
Without a doubt the best place to have a braai in the Karoo. This is the second time we have visited Waterfalsrivier. We were welcomed as if we were family. We returned because we remember the hospitality from last time round. The braai area is adjacent to two farm reservoirs and surrounded by windmills. Perfect for watching the sun set over the distant hills. No swimming this time round - middle of winter! Our hosts, Erina and Johan, provided us with braai packs and salads. Very convenient. There are good walking opportunities across the road from the farmhouse. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable with a large communal kitchen. The farm is about 25 minutes off the N1 near Leeugamka on a good gravel road. The deviation is well worth it.

South AfricaCome visit and you'll quickly see there is nothing not to like... Watervalsrivier Farm is exceptional in every way.
Finally a place where all the existing reviews on booking.com actually perfectly met up to our own experience. Read them and believe them. Easily the best experience in over a decade of spontaneous last minute travel. Book a day or a week, you'll be more than glad you did!

South AfricaNothing.
The location is perfect, just located about 18km from the N1. The road is a gravel road, so drive slowly. I did not have breakfast at the accommodation but made use of the braai packs which were excellent, we even had our personal braai master to assist with the fire and cooking. The pools are the bonus of this venue and are a relief to the heat during the day. I would certainly return and recommend! Hospitality was at its best.

South AfricaWhere the property is situated was probably the highlight of our trip. The farm is located about 25km outside Prince Albert, so it gives you that in nature experience. Especially when you look up at the bright stars with no city lights in sight. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The room was immaculate, with the aircon already on before we arrived (ideal for the Karoo temperatures). Two beautiful swimming pools to choose from, with a stunning view out into the Karoo and the braai facilities are perfect. The hosts even offerend pre-packed braaipacks (super delicious) pickled salads, garlic bread and ice. Firewood already stacked, with extra wood available. Light a match, and enjoy the experience. We will definitely visit again.

South AfricaThe 4 x border collie dogs were a bit too enthusiastic and bouncy. We liked having the dogs around but they need to be restrained a bit. Having to hoot at entrance gate as there is no cell coverage to phone or intercom to advise of one's arrival. Guests should be told this when booking (we did try phoning to give an ETA when on route but there was no answer)
Beautiful sunset profiling the windmills Quietness of the location Very comfortable bed and room Nice relaxing deck and swimming pool Enthusiasm of the host and hostess

South AfricaThat we had to leave so soon!
Fantasitc location in a remote area betweeen Leeugamka and Prince Albert, easily accessible along a good gravel raod. We had ths whole place to ourselves. Magnificent braai area surrounded by two farm reservoirs, which double as swimming pools, and numerous windmills. Perfect for a sunset drink and BBQ. Plenty of braai wood available. Large, well equipped communal kitchen. Lovely walks along jeep-tracks in the surrounding farmland over the road from the farm. Lots of game and birds.

South AfricaThis place was truly magical, and we loved staying there. The hosts were wonderful, kind-hearted, and friendly. They even sell braai packs with lamb chops and sausage, and it is very affordable. The scenery is beautiful and peaceful and our room was very clean. We even received coffee, snacks, and milk. What more do you want. My husband and I can't wait to go back to Watervalsrivier Farm - it feels like home.

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn't like.
The pools and the area next to it were wonderful and so easy to sit out and enjoy the wonderful weather and braii next to the pool later on. The rooms were incredibly smart and smelt lovely upon arrival. There were little biscuits and chocolates for us and cold water, which were bonus treats! The hosts were so friendly and welcoming and although we were happy just relaxing, they made clear they were on hand if we needed anything. The setting was lovely and the design and accommodation were great, but it was the pool and fairy lit area with the braii that really helped us enjoy relaxing under the starry sky!
