The staff were friendly and very helpful. My King size room was enormous, very comfortably appointed and had a good hairdryer, bar fridge, good coffee machine as well as free bottled water and tea. Breakfast was also very nice, fresh fruit, cold meats and hot food as well. This guest house is located a quick 12 min from the middle of down. Down 1 straight tarred road.

The garden was a bit unkempt. A small thing like mowing the lawn would have made a big difference. However, it did not affect our stay at all

The estate is set in a lovely quiet spot not too far from Franshhoek. Breakfasts are really good. My room was not the best and needs some TLC. The bath spout is loose from the wall and points to the overflow and one needs to lift it a bit to pour water into the bath. The toilet paper holder is broken and I placed the broken part on the floor but it was simply inserted back when housekeeping cleaned the room for the 2nd night... Carpet is a bit dirty and stained, but that could be due to the grapevine directly outside the bedroom door... Luckily I got the room at a semi decent rate, and would have been super disappointed if I had to pay full price, because then I would have canceled..

The rooms and property in general need some freshening up. While clean, everything felt a bit outdated and perhaps not well cared for. The pool was quite dirty and pool area not very inviting.

Breakfast was functional/ limited. Our private pool was only cleaned after our arrival and when we brought up the intention to use it.

Attentive reception staff, spacious, clean and well equipped villa and great help with arranging safe and reliable airport transfer for my elderly father. Our villa had the most stunning view of the pool and wine fields.

Second time in 6 weeks, came back as the location is perfect for us, close to our favourite estates and restaurants and lovely pool to chill in the afternoon or after breakie. Everything was fine a little shame the pond seems to be under some kind of refurbishment but that was not a big issue but otherwise beautiful

We were given a room that was a bit dark , there are others that seem to have a better outlook Room was large but a bit dated , probably refurbished 20 years ago , but it was clean V little help on tourist info roundabout , unlike some other places we stayed at No bar or restaurant

Mosquitoes!! We were bitten alive here. Would be good to have mosquito machines in the room. We added mosquito plug ins everywhere which did help.

The staff make this place a delight. So friendly and helpful. The ladies at breakfast made such an effort and were great fun too … lovely! Pool area and garden a pleasant place to relax.

The only thing that was a bit strange was breakfast in the mornings. There were two ladies, one of which said she was new. She seemed like she needed a bit of training. We got asked what we’d like to order for breakfast and had no idea what was available because there was no menu or anything to choose from. After the new waitress mentioned a couple items, I ordered an omelette. The omelette that came to me had the wrong fillings inside - the waitress didn’t write anything down which is probably why she got it wrong. On the second day, I ordered an omelette again with chilly, the other waitress took my order and repeated my fillings, but she left out the chilly. I then repeated “with chilly please” and she just smiles.. my omelette came without chilly. I’ve been to Val D’or once before and my breakfast experience was great! Unfortunately this time, it was not.

The location of the property is perfect as it’s close to the main street and the Wine Tram terminal. I loved the gardens, the fact that there were multiple pools and how clean and large the properties are. It is also very affordable and perfect for large groups.
