How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Our second time here and the Residence never disappoint us. we love the elegant style of the hotel and the rooms are big and well appointed. The staff is Kind and professional. The food is amazing we appreciate our dinner with the pianist , so special !

Breakfast was great. Our pool villa was amazing. Standalone and very private with fireplace, ideal for winter. Staff is very friendly. When we arrived we were met at our vehicle and escorted straight to our room. No wait time at check in.

something small. we have a guesthouse, know the problem with make up on linen. our fitted sheet had some mascara marks on. The towels should either be kept same "time used" and not mixed. white often shows different stages when linen was rotated to replace.
friendly staff. beautiful stay, delicious breakfast. Most of all - the bed was so comfortable, best nights sleep we've had in a long time !

We loved everything about the property.
Lovely property. Located in very good and safe area. The property looks amazing, if you love photos this is your place. Nice warm pool villa, we visited during winter but the villa had very good heating, this really helped. Great food and Very friendly staff as well.

only issue is the advert says you can use iPod/speakers in the room but you cannot. WiFi in rooms is poor, not all TVs can connect

Intermittent supply of hot water really took away from what would have been a perfect stay.
Absolutely stunning property. Our room had a sauna which really elevated the experience.

Fantastic, welcoming and comfortable property - old world charm with modern amenities. Staff were very engaging and we felt very relaxed. Unfortunately we were only there one night - but we enjoyed everything from airport pick-up, check in, delicious dinner and great breakfast selection to the transfer back to the airport. A special mention for the fire pit - a lovely place to sit and relax. Also beautiful big tub in the bathroom, and super comfy beds. Thanks to The Residence for a great experience, definitely keen to come back for a longer stay.

Very stylish, suite very large and a wonderful outside jacuzzi in a large and lush garden. Luxury for sure. Waiting staff and food comes up short. Temperature wrong, repeatedly sending food back. Insanely and unnecessarily expensive (even when spending in USD). Boma round fire at night is a nice touch.

Nothing , I can think off.
Breakfast was served with pride and the staff had reason. The breakfast was hearty and delicious. To the extend that I will go back to the hotel for the breakfast.

Pretty much nothing
Dinner was great. I had the Salmon. My husband had the Pork belly. Listening to live romantic piano play while dining was a bonus. Breakfast was delicious. Lovely view on the garden. Staff (service) were super helpful and friendly. Room were spacious with big bathroom. Management provided a festive bottle of bubbles and 2 glasses in our room for our anniversary. Thank you for that! :)

I was absolutely blown away by The Residence. Each area is tastefully and elegantly decorated, the facilities are spotless and well thought out, and it truly felt like I was in another world. A peaceful and memorable experience - in all my travels I don't believe I have experienced a room as spectacular as the Penthouse at The Residence.
