How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Attention to detail was superb. Marina is a thoughtful and kind hostess. The accommodation was incredibly comfortable… the fireplace and electric blankets were perfect for the chilly day and night.

This was a cosy, beautifully styled cottage in a super convenient location - easy to get to shops, main routes and places of interest, as well as being near to several stunning wine farms. The attention to detail in the cottage (a variety of drinks and treats on arrival, electric blankets, hot water bottles, games and interesting art pieces) made us feel like important guests. Absolutely loved our stay here.

Stunning location. Very peaceful and tranquil. The lavender bushes surrounding the cottage was a favourite. Martina is such a lovely hostess. Her complimentary morning rusks were such a treat. The cottage is prepped for a great self catering stay. Check in and check out was effortless and Martina is just a message away throughout the stay. We absolutely, had a wonderful time and would be back again.

Beautifully decorated and centrally located. We loved our stay at The Olive Cottage! The place was packed with every amenity one could need and is located in a quiet street close to the highway and all Cape Town has to offer.

As a former Capetonian Constantia is where I choose to stay. It's a fantastic location, close to wine farms such as Buitenverwachting and Groot Constantia where the restaurants are perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is also a perfect spot to base yourself for all there is to see in the city and around the peninsula. The Olive Cottage is perfect for couples and offers better accommodation than even the best hotels. It has all you need and no corners have been cut. It's also more competitively priced than city hotels that offer levels of accommodation of an equivalent standard.

Wish we could stay longer
Marina was very welcoming and gave us great tips on local restaurants. Beautifully designed cottage with all you could possibly need... The games and complementary wine are nice touches.

Nothing - it was a delightful stay. Just a note to say that a car is needed, or you will be ubering everywhere.

Having lived in Jo'burg for most of my life, parking on the street is a little 'foreign' but Constantia is on a different planet.
A lovely cottage in a quiet neighborhood. It's a 5-star facility within easy reach of the highway. The furnishing is high quality and the hosts attention to detail is very apparent. Well worth a visit.

Olive Cottage is one of the most impressive properties we have EVER stayed in. The living area, bedroom and bathroom all featured beautifully designed furniture and quality appliances. The outside patio was wonderful to sit out in and Constantia Village is a short walk away. Marina was a very helpful host and our stay though short was very relaxing.

The Wi-Fi password was sent via email but my laptop battery had died. The password could be included on a small, printed card and left in the room.
The property is beautiful. Perfect for a weekend getaway. We appreciated the decor and attention to detail. The snacks on arrival were great :-) We will definitely stay there again.

The Olive Cottage is absolutely beautiful. The furnishings are top class, with everything I needed and more! There were so many little extras included which made my stay really comfortable and luxurious. Marina and Marc have thought of everything. They are also very helpful and kind and went out of their way to make my stay perfect. The Olive Cottage is within walking distance to Constantia Village where there are an abundance of shops and restaurants. The cottage is quiet and safe too. I highly recommend this place and I will definitely be back!

Length of our stay was too short - would have loved to spend more time in this utterly beautiful little sanctuary!
Tranquil perfect position a minute's walk from Constantia’s woody greenbelts and bridle paths. Location ideal - so convenient to shops, award-winning wine farms, coffee shops and fine eateries. Well-appointed open-plan kitchen features top brand appliances and flows to a private and exquisite courtyard garden. Very comfortable and beautiful bedroom and bathroom. The host Marina is a pleasure to deal with, and made our Christmas stay a most memorable one. Everything exceeded our expectations and we can’t wait to return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. You can feel how much love has been put into this little home, everything has been so carefully and beautifully curated for a comfortable and lovely stay! Our check-in was super smooth and all communication with Marina was easy and warm. She is a wonderful host. We had everything we needed to cook meals and enjoy them inside or outside. The bed was also especially comfortable! Marina went above and beyond, providing us with extras treats like rusks and a few fresh drink items in the fridge. And the garden! What a little oasis. We could have easily stayed more and hope to return soon!
