How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBeautiful and stylish accommodation in a stunning setting. We stayed in the cottage - hot tub, treehouse bath, fire pit - it was a dream.
Breakfast was too small and plain for the price. Other than that, everything was amazing

Verified reviewPurple Rain. We absolutely loved our visit to the green Devon Valley, Louisvale Winery and our stay at the Log Cabin. The sun shone and the wines were amazing ... especially their signature wooded Chardonnay, which was just as good as we remember it from 32 years ago. Our stay at the Log Cabin was perfect and we were welcomed by all the amazing staff we met. Highly recommended to others. My song title for this review is inspired by the flowers along the driveway to Louisvale, their traditional bottle lables and the freshness and green of the valley.
Nothing not to like.

Verified reviewLoved everything about this place. The rooms were super comfortable and well equipped, the staff was just great. The fireplace, the hot tub, the view, the sunrise and our beloved sokkies, the cat! . We had the most amazing time here, so much so that we ended up extending a day. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Verified reviewStunning views, peaceful and endless wood supply!
Not a great variety or good selection of cutlery, utensils, plates, etc considering that it is a fairly pricey self-catering accommodation.

Verified review- Food (both dinner and breakfast) were amazing. - Location is very nice and tranquil - Personal touch from the hosts - Lounge with luxurious couches and fireplace at night
- I had to clean the drainage of the shower because the water didn´t leave - We were in the Lodge Apartment, on the ground level (for 4 guests), if you don´t lower the curtains people who walk by look right in.

Verified reviewI loved this whole stay, from the location to the attention to detail in the accommodation. The views are beyond beautiful, we loved the pets on the property, the staff were friendly and kind and so caring, the bath in the treehouse was a real treat, the hot-tub was pure bliss, and I wish we could have stayed an extra week! The food (breakfast and dinner) were delicious and we loved the chef and staff!
There isn't a divider between the beds and the bathroom (more so the toilet) so it's definitely best for couples who are quite familiar with each other already. It didn't bother us but does affect your sense of privacy.
Thank you for the feedback and your suggestion for the divider, we are looking in different options for a solution. We are glad you had an overall great experience with us and honored to be part of your journey. We would love to welcome you back in the future. Safe onward travels, The Log Cabin Team.

Verified reviewThe people staying upstairs made a lot of noise all hours of the night. I was surprised to pay so much for supper when it said "half board" free on the emails. I am not even sure what that means and I thought breakfast was included. The food was very expensive for a local.
Hi Quinton, The term "half board" refers to a standard hospitality offering that includes bed, breakfast, and one main meal—typically dinner. You selected the most affordable option, which is self-catering. As a fellow South African, you're familiar with alternatives such as Uber Eats, which remain available to guests. We encourage this route if our menu pricing doesn't suit your expectations, rather than ordering and expressing dissatisfaction after the fact. Kind regards, Kobus (Owner)

Verified reviewThe Log Cabin Lodge is located in a beautiful bucolic valley with a wonderful mountain view and vineyard surroundings. The rustic accommodations fit the farm environment and had all the essentials we needed for our stay. The lounge — a wonderfully cozy area — had a constantly roaring fireplace and balcony. The absolutely best part was the staff, who are consistently kind and professional. Our hosts Stewart and Michael, the chef, plus the owners, were very attentive and incredibly kind. The food was fantastic, with amazing presentations, delicious selections, lots of dietary options, and very creative selections. The chef suggested some wineries we hadn’t heard of but ended up being true hidden gems. There were two dogs and a cat on the working farm property, plus some cows, which we loved meeting! There was a lovely wood-fired hot tub which we thoroughly enjoyed plus a pool too which we would have taken more advantage of had the weather been warmer!
The shower was fitted in the bathroom without a glass partition, which made it modern but did make the bathroom floor wet whenever we used it.
