Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandIt was not made clear on the booking listing that this isn’t actually the hotel, that you’re in a managed suite in the hotel. That should be made much clearer. I had a lot of communication problems with the company that runs this booking — they didn’t respond to repeated messages, and that was a problem because housekeeping wasn’t initially included despite being advertised as such. I tried talking via booking.com, as well as on the WhatsApp message they sent and got no answer. Finally I rang their “emergency number”, and they answered promptly and got the housekeeping sorted and confirmed I had access to the hotel facilities and breakfast. Honestly if they had answered in the booking messaging then I would have no complaints.
It is important to note: this is a private owner suite, you aren’t booking with the actual hotel. That said, the suite was amazing, very beautiful and very tidy. The bath was huge, the shower very nice. The bed was soft and sheets delightful. It is a very spacious suite. The kitchen was quite usable. You do get full access to the hotel, including breakfast, daily housekeeping, pool, and gym. The hotel has a spa that is incredibly good, as well as a whisky bar that has some very delightful numbers. The staff at the Taj hotel are second to none, and I felt very looked after by them.

United KingdomAs above.
The staff were helpful, although requests were repeated before implementation. Breakfast was very good indeed. Apartment was well equipped. However, the absence of a bide or douche in the bathroom was a problem.

United KingdomI was billed for breakfast a few times even though my room rate included breakfast. But nitpicking here.
There was a variety of food types to choose from. The food was of a high quality. The servers were friendly and attentive. The laundry service was super fast. The gym was great and the pool was nice too.

AustraliaThat we should have stayed longer.
We stayed at the Taj on two occasions - for one day and for three days. The first (because of an error I made in booking) was in a suite. The second in an ordinary room. Both were excellent. The rooms were well fitted out, clean and very comfortable. The breakfasts (typical of South Africa) were substantial and had a huge variety of food. The Taj gave the added bonus of including a wide range of Indian foods for breakfast. Every interaction with the staff was a pleasure. The staff were very friendly and very efficient. The hotel is a fairly easy walk from the harbour area and we had great views of table mountain. I would have no hesitation in staying at the Taj again and in recommending it to all my friends and acquaintances.

BotswanaClarity on the Cleaning and Fee's associated with the type of Room... it is a Self Catered Apartment within the Taj hotel. On booking it is not mentioned that a Cleaning fee will apply if you need the room cleaned... The same applies with daily water replacements. The first night I stayed they did not come to clean the room / make the beds or replace my water, I had to call the Housekeeping to replace the water in the room when I got back. The second day they did come and clean my room and make my beds ( I was not charged for it yet ) ... this should be clearly mentioned on the booking page.. other than that Room and everything is Normal Taj quality . Lastly there was construction happening next door to the apartment and consistent hammering was heard throughout the day. Not my usual visit to a Taj property.
Room was nice and big, there were some nice welcome chocolates in the room which was a nice touch. Its better than booking a Hotel room as you get a full studio apartment and has a full kitchen... i hardly use Hotel facilities when I travel and prefer these type of places.

South AfricaEverything was amazing. The location was perfect, the room exceptional, the staff was extremely friendly. We were surprised with a complimentary bottle of champagne, chocolates and roses in our room because it was our anniversary and was just spoiled all the way through. We really felt like Kings and Queens and can’t wait to come back.

South AfricaRoom service...cappuccinos were cold. The advert on booking.com stated we had access to the executive lounge however on checking in we were told we did not have that privilege. When I disputed that I was advised they needed to call the manager. The process took 45 minutes of sitting in the entrance lobby and then we were advised we could have access and have only one drink and no food while in there. I feel this was a misrepresentation and false marketing on the service available as per the booking.com advert. There were only 2 other people in the executive lounge so it was really a poor resolution on their part.

South AfricaNothing!
Everything! This was one of the most fabulous stays I have ever booked on Booking.com. The host Nadia was amazing. She had everything arranged for me even though I came in on a late flight and was only checking in at around midnight. The Valet took my car to the parking for me so I could go straight to check in. The room is absolutely fantastic. It is really huge with high ceilings and opulalently carpeted and furnished. I had meetings the next day but switched them to online meetings just so I could stay in and enjoy the room more. There is 24 hours room service with a delicious and comprehensive menu. I couldn't fault my stay from the staff to the cleanliness, the linen the beds, everything was just perfect. I will definitely be staying there again on my next trip to Cape Town. I suggest you do the same.
