Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWonderful hotel in a special location. Facilities and bedrooms are tasteful and comfortable, the grounds are well maintained and everywhere you look there is something to discover. The “ferry” ride to the island was easy to arrange whenever it was needed.

South AfricaFinding some dead flies -or almost dead ones- around, here and there. Though there was a broom at disposal, we just swapped them out. And at least there was no mosquito, thanks to the natural repellent!! There was also no hot water unfortunately, we tried all the sink-opener position, but never had. But it was not a big deal for us, and a good cold shower is good for your health. :) There were not a lot of people around -which is nice- but what I want to say is regarding the curtains in the bathroom. They don't hide anything, they are actually pretty transparent, and we can literally see everything from the outside. I didn't trust my friend at the beginning because it looked like it was fine from the inside, but we do distinguish pretty much everything from the outside. We put the extra towels we had to hide it.
Everything was very good. We had the chance to see the zebras! The staff was very lovely, open and welcoming. Helping us to book some activities they have contacts with. The view of the island is very nice. They have a cat that came to sleep in our accommodation!! -That was one of the best moments hehe. The place was very comfy. The kitchen is dully furnished. There is a little living room area. You can totally go to the grocery store and cook, make tea, coffee, toasts... There is a body blanket to stay around if it's cold, a heater if it's really cold. Extra blankets also. A fridge and everything you need to feel at home to be honest. It was an incredible experience for me. The decorations and colours were natural orientated: white green and brown - it was soft and calming. I loved it all.

Stanley island was a unique experience - we totally loved it. Getting picked up by boat and driven to the island, checking into a very nice room, and enjoying the tranquility of the place. But the best part are the zebras strolling around the island. Very special. Good food and friendly staff rounded up our excellent experience. Thank you Stanley Island Team.

South AfricaStanley Island is a true hidden gem! Every moment of our short stay was magical, from the ferry trip, the beautiful, peaceful decor in the rooms to walking under the twinkling lights on the pathways for our delicious dinner at Stowaway restaurant! We will definitely be back! (PS - the photo's cannot capture the beauty of this island, you need to see it for yourself)

United KingdomOne of the highlights of our trip was staying at Stanley island. From getting on the boat to the island, to checking out, the whole experience was amazing. All the facilities are modern, clean and beautifully appointed. The rooms are well equipped, stylish and comfortable. The food is delicious with outstanding service. Best of all, the Zebras are the stars of the show. The heard of 7 Zebras come to the garden area outside the room every day, such an incredible experience to have your morning coffee while watching these graceful animals.

South AfricaWe really enjoyed the SUP boards but they were quite expensive.
We liked the small touches like the Nespresso machine and nice glassware and cups. We liked that there was bubble bath and the option to braai on the nice evenings (we also like that you had wood ect on the island). The island is also close to plett if you need to go into town for anything.
