Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaIt was okay for us, but someone with mobility issues might struggle with the stairs leading up to the living area/kitchen. There is nothing wrong with the stairs; you should just be aware the property does have stairs if that is a problem for you.
Marlicia is a fantastic host. We have stayed at several of her Franschhoek properties on numerous occasions. This was our first time staying at Small Wonder, but we knew that with Marlicia hosting that the property would be to high standard and it did not disappoint. We appreciated the large utility that this property had which was set up with a washing machine, tumble dryer, and iron. The property has everything that you need for a comfortable stay and we highly recommend staying at Small Wonder. The property was larger than we expected. We will definitely be booking with Marlicia again when we return to Franschhoek.

United KingdomEverything was perfect. The beds were a little too firm for us, but that’s a minor note, it might be great for some guests.
Very spacious, beautiful views and perfect for a group of four people. The host greeted us with a warm welcome, some wine and other kitchen supplies. They also shared knowledge and information about the area that was super helpful. The host also had incredible communication throughout.

AustriaThe stylish, modern villa is located in an elegant, quiet and safe quarter of Franschhoek. Huguenot Museum & Memorial is just around the corner and a plethora of cafés, restaurants and boutiques are in walking distance. Besides the two bedrooms the house offers a spacious living/dining area with an attached terrace giving view to a small, well maintained garden. It includes also a modern kitchen equipped with tea kettle, coffee maker, microwave and toaster. Our lovely host Marlicia prepared the fridge with milk, butter, jam, thus allowing us to enjoy homemade breakfast after getting fresh bread rolls and pastries from a nearby bakery. (We even got a nice bottle of wine as a welcome gift). Altogether we spent five fantastic days at Small Wonder enjoying the hospitality of Marlicia and her husband Louis - who was extremely helpful by taking our rental car to a garage for repair of a flat tyre. For sure we'll stay again at this place when visiting the Cape Winelands.

Wonderful house near to the centre of Franschoek, with really great facilities. It was comfortable and spacious and had everything needed. There were even some unexpected basics such as milk, butter, rusks/biscuits supplied. The home is in great condition and perfect for 2 couples travelling together as it has 2 en-suite bathrooms.

Just had a 3 night stay at Small wonder. Property is stunning and the photos do not do this amazing place justice. The views from the house are incredible. It's only a short stroll away to all the restaurants and shops, located in a very safe neighbourhood. we walked everywhere during the day and night. Our host Marlicia was very friendly and accommodating. She was available at all times if we needed her and even left us homemade rusks and oat bars, to which i took the recipe. Definitely would 100% recommend this fantastic Not so Small wonder.

Great small complete house, next to the owner's. Very complete with full kitchen, 2 bedrooms with each their own sanitary. Comfortably located close in (safe) walking distance from the main street and restaurants. Nice reception from the host, with regional tips and even a free bottle of wine.

South AfricaWe arrived to the warmest welcome and were allowed to check in early so that we could be in time for our wine tram booking. The house is huge! It is also ideally located with 360 views of the beautiful mountains in Franshoek. As it was winter, we loved the electric blankets and the wood provided for the fireplace to keep us warm and cozy. The white robes were so useful and we were excited to see them! The bathrooms were gorgeous and it was well equipped with everything that you need. There is tons or storage space in all of the rooms and three toilets. Overall, it was a great stay and we can't wait to come back

United StatesWe loved this house. The main living space and kitchen were such a wonderful size and very nicely furnished. Having a bathroom upstairs saved us from running up and down the stairs. It was also nice for each bedroom to have its own bathroom. The staff was so accommodating! The location was fantastic. The view of the mountains from the deck was beautiful. We also love the location to the wineries.

NetherlandsThere is nothing not to like.
Everything was great. The house is spacious and was given to us very tidy and clean. There is a small pool just next to the main bedroom that is perfect for a quick refreshment. The location is also good, with just a 5/10min stroll to get to the main street where you can find all the restaurants and stores. The area was very friendly and pretty. Would definitely recommend to stay at Small Wonder on your graden route trip.

Everything was spotless, and we had an amazing time. I can highly recommend this Small ( big) Wonder.. For our hike up the mountain, we also found some lunchboxes. We had the whole villa to ourselves so it was very like living in your own home. Everything in the Villa was to our liking and very secure. I would recommend this property in a flash.
