As it was very chilly, (Mid July) dropping to -2 at night, having additional panel heaters in the bedrooms and living spaces would have been better. We HAD to make a fire indoors for warmth, and unfortunately some of the wood supplied was very "green" and therefore damp and hard to light. Another plus would be to have doors on the showers! I think 2 of the 4 showers had no glass walls, which makes it chilly! Other small things that would be nice are: a small rubbish bin in all of the bedrooms and bathrooms, and a small amount of cooking oil in the kitchen.

The location is a tricky one; it is in the middle of nowhere which brings positives (serenity of nature, star gazing) but also the negatives of no cell-phone reception on the road to drive to the property. Be sure to download a map so it can be viewed offline, and use the exact pin location with gps coordinates, given by the property manager a few days before your stay. The house itself was very comfortable with large spacious rooms and electric blankets to ward off the cold Karoo nights. Linens and comfort of the beds were excellent. We had a plumbing issue, but that was sorted out quickly on a weekend day.

Sadly, this is no longer a working farm in the way it once was. Hiking trails were limited for older folk who just want a stroll but this refers more to the terrain than the accommodation.

This is a well-equipped, almost colonial style house with a wide, shaded veranda and little splash pool.. It has plenty of space to eat outside overlooking the Klein Karoo and is quiet and peaceful. Our host was very helpful in providing directions and very generous in the goodies she provided.

loved the uniqueness of the chalet. everything had been well though out and lots of extras were added to make this a very memorable stay. the homemade biscuits, cereal and milk provided. the honesty wine bar, the fresh flowers on the table

The only problem was finding the place. The GPS coordinates on booking.com and google direct to the wrong cottage quite far away. We drove around for 45 minutes trying to find the place, going to 4 incorrect addresses, including an abandoned house and a road that became an overgrown mass of brush. A bit stressful. But once we arrived, the place scores a 10 out of 10. The host did not communicate the correct address before our arrival so ensure you get the GPS coordinates from the host before arrival. Do not use those on google or booking.com

Superb tranquil paradise in the small karoo. Refreshing pool. Beautifully furnished house. Lovely braai area with spectacular views! Lovely beds with quality linen. We loved it.

A truly exceptional warm Klein Karoo farm experience. The splash pool so welcome on those hot days. More little extras we ever expected including a welcoming sherry, freshly baked bread with cheese, breakfast cereals, rusks, welcoming pack on each bed, filter coffee and tea, wood for the braai and more. What a treat also for our granddaughter to be invited to feed the baby lamb. Great facilities without feeling you are walking on eggs.

The view was exceptional! Everything was clean and neat and they provided more than we expected. During loadshedding they even brought us an inverter so we could be more comfortable. I would highly recommend to spend a weekend or more here!

The house was well equipped and comfortable with many thoughtful touches e.g.cereal, rusks, milk, yoghurt. It is possible to order supper and the roast lamb and vegetables we had were absolutely delicious. The area is beautiful and peaceful, so quiet .Lianda was an excellent host.

I would've loved a heater in the living area. The indoor fireplace/braai could not give enough heat to heat up the living area. I didn't like the lack of covering at the bathroom window. I would have liked a door that separates the bedroom from the bathroom for more privacy.

Lianda is a friendly and very helpful host. I valued her quick email replies or input on directions. The ELANDSHUISIE is beautifully furnished and decorated. I loved the attention to detail: complimentary sherry on a silver tray, breakfast basket with freshly baked bread, butter and marmelade. Yogurt, cheeses and milk in the fridge. Enough teas, coffee, sugar and other condiments, even a little olive oil. There were enough toiletries and towels. The electric blanket was a blessing during the chilly nights. There was a hair dryer, a first aid kit and a sewing kit.

This is a real gem! Klein Karoo vibes with the most beautiful cottage. We stayed in Eland Cottage and it was magic. The owner has thought of every small detail to make to the most comfortable stay. So many extras provided... candles, matches, milk, tea, coffee, yoghurt, cereals, sherry.

Linda was amazing, organizing our drinks and supplying the meat for our braai. It is extremely quiet and we will definitely be back for an extended stay to appreciate the farm more! The house has all you would need for a lovely stay.
