How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewHonestly it was a beautiful experience, breathtaking view and great value for money, we didn't get a chance to use the pool but nonetheless it was one of the best places I've been will definitely revisit very soon. Lovely and friendly host. Great breakaway from the city life.

Verified reviewThe accommodation, with its wonderful views to two sides over a vineyard and the Paarl mountain, is attached via private entrance to a gorgeous, rustic home and garden. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, from providing us with towels and jacuzzi jets in their pool, to supplying braai facilities at our own place under the trees. We had our own access gate to explore the vineyards and visit the tasting room. We also enjoyed visits from the owners’ friendly dogs and cats. Also appreciated were the thoughtful touches like a mini sewing kit, nail file and a supply of filter coffee for our mornings. Thanks Mlani and family for a wonderful stay.

We just love it when our guests embrace all on offer. Welcome back any time.

Verified reviewThe owner was very kind, friendly, and welcoming. The accommodation was clean and well kept. We loved the scenery around the property, beautiful for early morning walks before the Paarl sun hits. We also had access to a lovely braai spot between the trees, where we had our evening braais.
Nothing.

Verified reviewIf you are looking for a peaceful and quiet place this is it. I usually stay at a hotel, but was relocating from Pretoria to Paarl and had a very stressful time behind me, and more so ahead of me. I wanted a quiet place. This place was like heaven. I already relocated my car and there were ample and safe parking. The bed was very comfortable. The room has conveniences like a small fridge, a hair dryer, and a small kitchen with a basin where you can wash the cultery provided. Sunlight dish washing liquid and washing and drying cloths are provided, and nice and enough towels, one for your body and a separate one for your hair. There is also a to-die-for-nice body wash and hand wash provided. There is a small fridge, and a plunger with coffee, sugar and tea and rusks. I worked to settle into my new home during the day, and had privacy at night when i returned dirty. There was nobody to bother me when I came home. The cat came to visit me and that was fantastic, though it made me miss my cat at home. If you are going throug a very stressful time this is the place for you. The view from the window was so therapeutic. There is also a white horse, and I regret not having had the time to visit the horse.
I had my Nespresso machine with me which I travelled with to and from my house. There is, however, a plunger, if you are a holiday maker. A small microwave would be a plus. TV addicts note there is no TV. Not that you want a TV with that view. Not an issue for me as I had no time to even watch Netflix on my laptop. A laundry service would be nice as I was running out of clothes and not having had the time to buy a washing machine for the new house.
So glad you could relax and unwind with the vineyards and the views. Best of luck with your future endeavours xxx when life gets too much, you are welcome to come and escape.

Verified reviewI absolutely loved this spot. The pictures don’t do the view justice. We had large windows along one side of the room that overlooked the entire southern Paarl, and that alone was enough to make me fall in love with the place. From the very friendly reception to the lovely pool and the cozy braai spot with the swing, we truly enjoyed our stay. I adored the quaint little "Hobbit doors" leading to the communal kitchen. This is perfect for a couple’s getaway. The horse—I mean, the very big dog—was just the cherry on top of a wonderfully welcoming experience.
We would love to see your pictures! Feel free to share on our listing site xxx see you guys again soon.

Verified reviewI had to book spontaneously and I was received very flexibly. The owner is extremely friendly and it was a warm welcome. The apartment was clean and spacious and nicely furnished. You actually live in the middle of the vineyard and you also get a key to the winery so that you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner very quickly on foot. If I come back to Paarl, I will gladly stay here again.
It was wonderful hosting you! We love it when our guests embrace the tranquility of the views and farm living. See you again.

Verified reviewLocation was excellent for my requirements. The views of the surrounding area were lovely. Parking was plentiful onsite.
There was no air conditioner in the room. The ceiling fan was okay. The entrance was to the room was a little awkward as it was low door with a foot high threshold.
Paarl this time of year is a scorcher. Luckily the traditional thatched roof and pool works well. Glad you enjoyed the views and the vineyards.
