How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

To spite thatvthe room had a wall heater, the room was cold. The bed was noisy and the TV's remote did not work.
I liked the location of the guest house, quiet and relaxing. Liked that it had a bath ans a shower.

Nothing pertaining to my particular stay.
Very central and close to the business centre and shops. Ideal for 1 night stay (particularly if attending business in town or function at surrounding schools). Rusks and cereal in rooms a nice touch, even if I did not take the breakfast option. I stayed in different room and house than in the pictures, but still conveniently central with secure off-street parking. Water dispenser available in foyer which was nice.

Wi-Fi could be upped a bit for business travellers, and it wasn't immediately clear which wi-fi applied to which rooms (it was explained in the booklet in the room - to be fair).
Secure parking, pleasant staff. Right next to a river with a walking path. Easy access to Stellenbosch central as well as main wine routes.

We saw a few cockroaches. The key to the main door got stuck and we had to call the staff for help. Also, they said there is a wall heater in our room but there wasn't any
Our room was really nice and cozy. The location is close to all amenities which is great and it is very safe. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Someone's old bottle of water was still in the room and there was only one satche of coffee. But that doesn't really bother me that much.
Reception was amazing and so friendly. I was really really impressed with the young men that helped us check in. Clean facilities and nice garden for little ones.

Room 3 shower was luke warm water and we could not enjoyed a nice shower. There is no instruction how to operate the Television.

Don't ask advice like how do I get to this spot or where can a mom with kids go and eat. The people working there will not know. Still they try their best. I will visit them again

Next time can the booking. com be fully detailed with the accommodation and its room setup. it was disappointing when i got on the room, it was two separate bed as though im traveling with a group of four

The room was quite warm and there was a fan but I would have enjoyed some aircon or a stronger fan. Still slept great though!
The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They were happy to look after my things while I explored Stellenbosch town and made me feel very much at home.

The only negative thing, is that the room I stayed in, Room 16, was right on the covered patio/stoep. And this patio/stoep, was the designated smoking area. And being a non- smoker, it is not great to wake up, to cigarette smoke/smell, coming in through the open windows. I suggest moving the "smoking area" away from the living/sleeping areas.
All was great, exactly what I needed for my short stay. Very happy with the room chosen.

Hot rooms
The room was very hot had to run the fan all the time and opening windows not an option as no mozzie spray provided. Otherwise value for money Thsnks.
