Pity there were no pots nor gas to cook. Also no plug for sink to wash dishes.

Stunning home & spacious living areas with gorgeous gardens & fantastic house boy, William, who lit the fire every night for us!

Only the fact that we didn't stay longer, but next time we will be sure to stay for more than 1 night.

What a beautiful house and the surroundings, so peaceful and quiet, the gardens are breathtaking. We watched the horses and walked through the garden, taking in the wonderful scenery. We used to visit family in The Crags many years ago, so this brought back so many beautiful memories. William switched on the underfloor heating as it was very cold, and we felt right at home and super comfortable.

Thank you for sharing your amazing villa with us. Honestly, we had the most amazing experience and all to ourselves with that roaring fire and beautiful artwork. Your property and gardens, trees and plants, dams and grounds were naturally immaculate and your beautiful white roses are so incredibly scented. Everything was perfect, and William an accommodating and gracious host. We felt like we stepped into another world for an evening. You're guaranteed our custom in the future, and I wish you all the best and success in the future.

My friends and I had a great stay at Lombard Villa. When we arrived, there was a confusion with the rooms - but William (the house manager) had a call with the owner and had is fixed in no time. We ended up having the whole villa to ourselves, and we had a great evening by the fireplace. The villa and the territory around it is so beautiful, and my room was huge and extremely comfortable. We felt like characters in some movie or a novel! And the fact that we paid a very moderate price for it, made it even more surreal. If I were the owner, I'd put some more effort into tiny details that guests appreciate (toiletries, kettles in each room etc), and would start charging much more :D Hurry up and book it before the owner reads this review! :D

Both our bathrooms didn’t have any soap or hand wash

What a beautiful villa. Our rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. The house itself and the grounds are gorgeous. We were lucky to have the whole house to ourselves spending evening at the fireplace and enjoying making breakfast in the beautiful kitchen. William was very helpful and accommodating, really appreciate his efforts. The fact that you’re in a place where the owners shared memories and joy raising children and calling this villa home makes it even more special.

I would just fix the add and remove bathtub. If you cannot bath guests should be made aware of that before booking. Loved the place anyway.

This was a treat and an experience one will not forget. It is a must for anyone to stay here. Luxury, comfort and breathtakingly beautiful. Staff was exceptional.

    All perfect

We were privileged to once again step into the vast, cool and spacious entrance Hall of this magnificent Historic House. It is like being able and allowed to stay at van der Stel House, or Groot Constantia. Old world luxury, space. Kitchen with a fire place, reading room with a fire place and this time we could enjoy the luxury of the topfloor suite. Imagine walking from your heavenly bed, through a dressing room as large as a living room in a good size house, into a bathroom with areas to bath, shower, do make up or leisurely sitting back and enjoying the views over the texturer of the garden and ponds. Flowing trees and birds reflecting in the water. We counted more than 14 species of birds and more than 30 kinds of trees and shrubs around the house. We walked barefoot into the terraced garden and sat and stared at the beauty of this lovely, loved house. I must be so difficult to keep this old Lady neat and fresh. She has grand parapets that will seep through the generous rains, she has thick, volumous doors that might be left open on summer nights and keep the cold outside in winter .. That might let in some rain. But to live in this living, historic house with the abundance of space for even one night makes her unforgettable. Always in our minds. Loved and so precious to experience. We bought fresh bakes from the Mugg and Bean about 4 km away. And for our evening meal we bought Steers. Salad and perfect ribs. The kichen had all we needed to heat out food, chill the salad and the cutlery and crockery made a simple meal feel so special. Thank you Lombard Villa. Once again you stole our hearts.

Majestic place , A privilege to even enter ....

Thank you for allowing us mere mortals to experience this house. This majestic house is mind blowing. I feel so bad for the reviews of guests that could not appreciate the privilege to stay in one of our country's historic villas. Peeling paint I could not find. Only style and comfort. Peeling paint in a 5 year old guest room where you have to fill the kettle in the bathroom and can only walk one step each way is a problem. How can anyone rate this lovely aged elegant ,place on the same scale as anything else! ! In my life I have not stayed in anything as grand as this. Beds and linen white, crisp and comfy. Kitchen as large as my whole house with a fireplace where you can wait for your meals to heat in the microwave or late night Milo to cool down. Feel like reading or answering emails , do that in the majestic , comfort of the first sitting room, with a view on vineyards and horses slowly grazing. Feel like eating or building a puzzle , you have a dining room with a table as big as any palazzo in Europe. If you feel like building and firing your own pizza or bread , you will find a pizza oven and braai under the best canopy with the best views. Nothing in this house is ordinary, don't book if you want a B&B copy and paste unit. This is something where you will have to know : no close, noisy neighbours, only a few minutes from the N2. Plan and bring your frozen meals or order Checker 60 for delivery . 10 min away is a very smart and well stocked Mug and Bean and a garage shop. Best coffee and bakes and good food like chicken and breakfast options. 24 /7. Don't come expecting to cook your meals on the stove top. Read the rules!...it is chaos if all 6 units wants to cook and guests sometimes do not clean after themselves..another review I saw. How can you rate this beautiful house low because guests were messy? That is why you cannot cook! But experience the grandeur of oversized furniture and the views and tranquility. Thank you Lombard Villa .

One of the few things I didn't like was the condition of the dish towels, they need to be replaced. That's not a big deal though, I bought my own to overcome that. The pillows could also be a little sturdier, you literally sink down to the mattress when you put your head down, but just pile them up and you should sleep more comfortably. Also, the hairdryer was just blowing cold air which is not that pleasant during the winter time. There was a bit of peeling paint in my bathroom but it was out of the way, so not much of an eyesore. There's really not much to dislike there, all the things I mentioned are a minor for me and didn't really detract from my stay there.

I was running late for check in and contacted them an hour before the last check in to inform them. Michela was the person who got in contact with me, she was very compassionate and understanding. She didn't make me feel like a nuisance and what started as a stressful situation for me turned into the start of a very peaceful stay there, thanks to her friendliness. I loved the peace and tranquillity I experienced there at the house and surroundings. William, the property caretaker, was very friendly and helpful - truly a gem. The facilities were mostly in good condition so it was just a relaxing experience overall for me. There are working fireplaces in about three communal areas in the house, which was great on the colder winter nights. The patio furniture in the barbecue area was so comfortable, I would usually just sit / lay outside all day reading and soaking up the bit of sunshine that passed through and listen to the sounds of nature. The scenery is actually very beautiful, combine that with the sounds of birds singing and some squawks plus the sounds of wood creaking and wind chimes and I was in my own little introvert heaven. Caveat, I mostly had the house to myself as I was only sharing with one other guest who was also very chill and friendly. I also got to watch the neighbours' horses grazing when I was walking in the garden area which was a nice bonus. I would definitely book with them if I'm ever in the area again. I highly recommend others to book a stay at Lombard Villa.
