How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewFabulous time. Good was great. The game drives were fantastic. We had a great, peaceful stay. Only thing we didn't see was the elusive leopard so we'll have to come back! Also so close to hoedspruit airport.

Verified reviewEverything about Little Safari Lodge was perfect. We were looking for a chilled experience and were so happy with our stay. The game rides were exceptional. Robert and Mateo went above and beyond to ensure we had a very personal up close experience. They were just exceptional. The lodge was fantastic. The food was absolutely restaurant quality in taste and presentation. We had to cancel lunch one day as we were so full from breakfast. We saw all the big five and so many more animals in their natural habitat. Just stunning. We will be returning. Thanks for the best stay.

Verified reviewStaff, service, food, atmosphere was so unique and comfortable with a special upscale feel.. Thomas and Mateo our safari guides were great getting us around to see lots of game life. Lions and cheetahs were our favorites. Loved the hot towels on arrival and after safaris. The menu was varied and the food was excellent. Would recommend.
Could use more lighting in bathrooms. Felt slightly rushed at times from post safari to dinner to bed. But still loved our 3 day stay!

Verified reviewAll was perfect! The staff was very friendly, we thank Leandra and Danel for their help, Mateo and Robert for the beautiful game drives. The food was delicious, fresh and very abundant, the room/tent was just fabulous: clean, comfy and big. We heard hyenas and lions in the night, adding to the magical atmosphere. The pool was also amazing and one day we spotted three giraffes passing by. What an experience. We did 2 game drives per day and the spottings of animals were just great, all the big 5 plus many many more

Verified reviewThis resort is absolutely fantastic, it was way beyond what I expected and we loved it. Leandra and her team met all our expectations. Our meals were delicious and very South African - which we loved. It's amazing to eat traditional meals from the country. Our tents were perfect, clean, and beautiful. Game Drives were unbelievable.
Nothing.

Verified reviewLeandra & her staff were AMAZING! We stayed 8 nights for our honeymoon & she did a tremendous job along w/her son & her staff of 20 yrs. (Munya & Joyce). Mateo, Level 3 tracker, & Robert were fabulous & we were able to see the BIG 5. We saw the big 4 in 2 days but saw the elusive leopard on our last day. The food, service, BBQ, were some of the best food we had tasted as her chef served ip sumptuous meals & the tent was luxe for sure! We looked @ Kapama first but they were super-pricey & crowded. We were able to get customized service & get to know the staff. We did day trips: Panaroma Route to see the 3rd largest canyon in the world & Jabulani, the orphan elephant sanctuary which were highlights!
Nothing. Everything was great!

Verified reviewAbsolutely loved our time at Little Africa and would have stayed much longer if we could have! The small size of the lodge meant the setting felt very intimate and personalised, and we found each of the staff members a pleasure to deal with. The drivers and tracker for the game drives were engaging and get you amazingly close to the wildlife- we were able to see all of the big 5 within the first 3 drives. The food also deserves a special mention- was home prepared according to personal preference and was delicious!

Verified reviewClose to airport, great staff, great food. Fun location could see animals from the lodge. Was great value. Saw a lot of animals on every game drive. :)
Moditlo sometimes feels more like a wildlife safari park rather than truly wild (which isn’t necessarily bad)- but you do run into the fence on drives, the buffalo are all in a separate fenced area. However you do get to see more animals that you likely would in a different area and will most likely see the big 5

Verified reviewLittle Africa is a lovely lodge which is efficiently run by Leandra. Little Africa is perfect for experienced travellers, older travellers. Super comfortable tents with an unparalleled environment. Had my best sleep ever! My father had his 72nd birthday and the chef baked a special chocolate cake for the ocassion. The entire staff brought it out ceremoniously and made the ocassion very special.
Our group is mostly vegetarian and we also had 2 children in our group (aged 5 and 8). The meal options are limited and may not cater to international tastes and preferences. An area of improvement can be having a kiddie friendly menu, although we did receive custom made veggie meals. Also having a small play area for kids aged 10 and below keeps them fairly engaged and carving out a small place with a small tree house / jungle gym with swings/ slides can be very helpful for young families. Game drive guides (of Little Africa) can be better compared to guides from other lodges in the area.

Verified reviewGame drives, Never and Mateo's excellent knowledge and personalities. They truly provided a once in a lifetime experience for us, getting close to animals and doing their best to take on any requests. Their local perspective, knowledge and stories added a unique twist compared to other game drives we've done. Never was the outgoing friendly Energetic personality while Mateo added a sense of safety in the bush. As mentioned they both have outstanding knowledge. Never's game drives are like a fun learning experience while driving through the African bush. Mateo has many years of experience in tracking and we enjoyed his in depth knowledge. Breakfast and lunches and service by Munya. Pool area Pick up service from the airport. Birding around the camp Air conditioning in the room
Dinners by the fireplace when it was really hot. Food Waste (at breakfast in particular) Perhaps allow guests to order breakfasts in advance. The owner Leandra is friendly and helpful but we did feel a bit awkward around her. Could just be our personalities not matching. I did feel it was a bit strange that when paying the bill there was an option to tip the owner( and it included a guide on how much to tip her, the chef and the wait staff). It did not include a recommendation on how much to tip the guide and tracker. We did tip everyone as they all deserved it.

Verified reviewImpeccable service; very good food; comfortable bed; cleanliness always top-notch (clean and tidy rooms); all staff very kind, polite, and well-prepared; the safari (game drive) was spectacular (we saw all the big five). The experience was incredible and will be forever cherished.
Could you add a game room for the time we spent at the hotel, although the pool and the bar were quite nice as well. Is using a drone during the game drive a viable option for searching for animals with technology?
