This was our first trip to SA ( won't be our last ) and we stayed at 3 different lodges. Kuname came out on top for it's exceptional hospitality especially from the managers Harry & Glenn. Nothing was too much trouble, always checked in and helped us to make arrangements during our stay for any excursions. Always around ready to help or have a chat. They went above and beyond and truly stood out to us. The food was exceptional too, it honestly felt like eating Michelin star meals every day, the taste, care and the presentation was truly amazing, absolute master chef at this lodge, a big thank you for making a gf cake for my birthday which my husband organised and surprised me with on the day. They catered so incredible for my GF dietary requirements to the point where I didn't have to ask I would be given food at the table that was a gf alternative for breakfast pastries pancakes etc, had gf muffins on the drive and they even made a separate gluten free cake dessert during the Boma. You will be so well looked after here. The game drives and our tracker and guide Eddie & Lucky and indeed we were very lucky to have these two for our safari experience, so knowledgeable, easy to talk to fun and great to see how their passion for the animals and drives still show the fascination they have even doing this everyday. We saw the big five on one day alone, there is so much to see on this beautiful reserve from wild animals, trees, plants, birds and the sunsets are unreal. Our room was so lovely, clean and well facilitated, loved the outdoor bath and having a view of the river bed from the terrace of our room which my husband was very surprised to see 2 lions walking across one day. The Boma was an amazing experience and was so happy we would have the chance to experience this and dine with others and the safari team. Everything about this trip and this lodge was so special, we hope to return in the future and would definitely recommend to others.

We had the most exquisite stay at Karongwe. The staff were absolutely fantastic and couldn't do enough. Our guide Mandla & tracker Colin really were two of the nicest people we have ever met. The food was 5 star, and the portions were big. They also catered for my wife who is vegetarian. This was a trip of a lifetime, seeing 4 of the big 5. We would love to come back!

Nothing- we would love to return!

What a magical place Kuname Lodge is. We had the most unforgettable time staying here for four nights on our recent honeymoon. We loved the fact the lodge was small and intimate, which made for a relaxing experience. All of the staff were fantastic- friendly and very attentive and we were so well fed throughout our stay and had some delicious meals (the braai in particular!). Our room was comfortable with a viewing platform for us to watch the baboons and nyalas close by. The eight game drives we had during our stay were superb- we saw all of the big five at least twice as well as plenty of other animals, including cheetahs on foot. Adi was a wonderful guide and we will look back so fondly of our game drives with him and Sondy, our tracker. Thank you to Team Kuname for such a memorable four days!

The room could have more than 1 outlet, it was a struggle to charge phones/ cameras with 1 outlet. We would have liked to have more dinners outside by the fire than just the one night.

The breakfast was great. The location was great and the guide and tracker were amazing.

There is no way to improve on this place. It is perfection.

A remarkable place with excellent staff, food, and guided animal safari drives twice a day. The landscape is exceptional. The lodge and rooms are exquisitely decorated, comfortable, and with views of animals walking through the grass and along the river beds. We heard lions as we dined on world class cuisine.The chef is gifted, with asure hand in spices and seasonings.

Beautiful location overlooking the valley, with lots of animals wandering around. Exceptional staff - very helpful and attentive. The property was kept impeccably clean. The food was incredible and plentiful. The drinks were very well priced. Loved the game drives - saw the big 5 in the first couple of drives! Very special evening celebrating my mums birthday with a cake prepared. Glen was especially helpful with all needs. Overall fantastic stay and could not recommend highly enough!

We got upgraded to the Becks safari lodge and it was the most amazing holiday we have had. It was such a great experience and we will definitely be back. The staff are absolutely amazing and so lovely. The food is 5 star and the game drives are so much fun. We saw all 5 of the big 5 animals and many others. Got to be so close to the animals and learnt so much from our ranger Kevin. He is so amazing and great at his job.

Could not have been any better!

We had an amazing stay at Kuname Lodge, it could not have been any better. The rooms were beautiful, and really well serviced during our stay. They made us feel very special with little touches for our honeymoon. The food was plentiful and very tasty. We also had excellent experiences on the game drives, managing to see all of the big 5 and doing some exciting tracking of elephants on one particular drive. The tracker and guide were really knowledgeable and friendly. We would go back in a heartbeat.

The rooms were luxurious with the most incredible outdoor shower and bath. The pool was gorgeous and the view was incredible. The staff we so friendly and nothing was too much trouble and the food was exceptional

We liked everything! The location is perfect for Game Drives and the view from the lodge is breathtaking. The staff went above and beyond and the food was simply out of this world. We have travelled a lot and this food is by far the best we have ever had! 😋 Our stay was magical, there is nothing I would change. I have a feeling we will be back 😉

Stunning location, nestled in the private Karongwe reserve. Comfortable bed in a beautiful room with everything we could wish for. Delicious breakfast and creative meals throughout our stay, we loved the boma braai and the location perched high above the river bed where we saw rhino and lions. Incredibly friendly staff and team who went above and beyond, even buying us yoga matts especially for us. Safari-wise we’d seen the Big5 within 36hrs of arriving and saw them multiple times during our stay. Every game drive was packed with sightings and Patrick & Mandla were kind and knowledgeable.

Outstanding in all respects. The game drives were phenomenal - our guide and tracker were informative, friendly, dedicated and professional. The food was spectacularly good. The facilities are lovely - peaceful and luxurious. The staff were attentive strove, friendly and helpful. And we got a great deal so this luxury experience was real value.

Our whole experience at Kuname was magnificent. I could spend days writing about it but I’ll try to write a resume: The whole staff made us feel loved and taken care of. We were welcomed by Glen at our arrival. He explained everything we needed to know. The staff prepared a small cake and the staff sang for me in Zulu happy birthday on my first dinner night at Karongwe. It was truly magical. We stayed 2 nights at The Manor. The house was huge and it comfortably accommodated all the 3 of us. It had a private pool. We loved the amenities, there were repellent so we could use everyday, the housekeeping would prepare our beds for the night and leave slippers and chocolates with a kind message that would change every night. The food was superb. Everyday we could choose our breakfast, lunch and dinner from a menu. Honestly I hope everyone gets to try the Mint Pie that they served one day at lunch: one of the best things I’ve ever tried. The game drives was obviously the highlight: our ranger Geff and tracker Lucky were incredibly helpful and made everything so we could spot the big 5. We spot all of them with our 2 first game drives. It was around 36° and we could spot all of the big 5 real quickly. I got amazed how they tracked the 3 cheetahs at our first game drive. As days goes by, eventually the last game drive it could end up just your grup, at our last, Lucky came to me to check what we wanted to see since we’ve spotted already all the animals we wanted to. I told him we wanted to see a manada of elephants specially with baby elephants. They did it. Our safari was almost ending and they drove us on a trial that there were a full family of elephants. One of the most magical moments I’ve ever experienced. Hats off to Joanna (reservation), Glen (management), Geff and Lucky (game drives), Emily, Sharon, Otsu (kitchen) and everyone at Kuname Lodge. I work with tourism and the staff from Karongwe makes you feel so special that you don’t want to leave.

Everything !! It was just perfect. Rooms and all commodities are beautiful. Staff is really gentle and is very careful. Safaris are really good as well : thanks to Adolf and Teddy for their knowledge and searches about Big five 👍 We will come back for sure in South Africa, a beautiful country with a lot to see We will recommend this place, 2 days are fine but 3 days will be better

The only slight issue we had, was maybe one or two of the courses in the meals weren't 100% perfect but overall the food was good. There was a good selection to choose from and it was well cooked - we ate very well for all 3 included meals.

The game drives were the highlight for us, we had done some self driving in Kruger just before coming here and it was the perfect combination - the guides are so knowledgable and went out of their way to track the jaguars down which we really wanted to see. Every time we came back to our room - which was gorgeous, private and had an amazing view of the river bed with wild roaming animals, it had been re-made and in the evening the mosquito nets were pulled down ready for bed. We felt well taken care of by all the staff and it was a very romantic and luxurious break for us.

It exceeded my expectations. The big difference with Kruger and the special ambience during the game drives in the 90km2 parc is so unique it might get more attention in the advertisement of this lodge.

We’ve had an unforgettable experience at Kuname Lodge. After three days of Kruger, we didn’t think this would we such different game drives. From ranger and spotter to general manager, from waitress to housecleaner, from gardner to entrance watcher, from the first to the last minute: everyone did everything to make this an amazing experience. The dinner around the boma fire, the giraffes walking by, spotting baby lions playing, a cheeta hunting, doing a bushwalk to three cheeta brothers and stand by them for several minutes… This is a must-do, must-see, must-experience! Thank you, Kuname Lodge, for making our big five complete and giving us so much more. We will never forget!
