Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainMy stay at the Kruger private lodge was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, Bertus went out of his way to make me feel welcome and completely at ease. It was the most soothing and relaxing escape I could’ve asked for—perfectly nestled in nature, yet with all the comforts thoughtfully provided. The room was absolutely beautiful—spacious, serene, and tastefully designed. Bertus was incredibly accommodating, even setting up a desk in my room so I could work comfortably during my stay. His attentiveness and warmth made all the difference. You can really feel the care and intention behind every detail. I couldn’t recommend this place more, and I’m deeply grateful to Bertus for his hospitality and kindness.

United KingdomNothing. We didn't want to leave.
We loved everything about this Lodge. Both Bertus and Linique were fantastic hosts. The rest of the staff were also amazing. They will provide an evening meal for you at a very reasonable cost. Trish is a fantastic cook. Bertus's Braii was also fantastic. The lodge itself is probably one of the nicest places I have stayed. We had the rooms at the top with amazing views of Crocodile River. The rooms could not be faulted. Everywhere had beautiful paintings and ornaments of safari animals. I cannot give this lodge enough praise. A gem in Marloth Park with a view.

United KingdomNothing at all
From the moment I arrived, I had a very warm welcome from the fabulous host Bertus. I was the only one staying at the lodge so he kindly arranged an upgrade on my room which had spectacular views of crocodile river. I watched the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and even got to see hippo, buffalo, impala, and elephants from the comfort of my own balcony everyday. This was a truly magical experience. The room itself was perfect; it was big, clean and extremely comfortable, and it was just what I needed after a long week of work in Cape Town. I was out on safari most days so the chefs kindly put together a breakfast box for me to take every morning which was very tasty. I also had a 3 course dinner here on most evenings and the food was exquisite! The chefs are so talented and so lovely. They really are an asset to the lodge. The host Bertus was incredibly helpful during my stay and made sure I had a great trip and experienced everything Marloth Park and the Kruger had to offer. The lodge really was perfect and I cannot recommend it enough. I can’t wait to come back soon!

United KingdomRoad in was a gravel road some of which was a little rough but managed OK in a normal hire car. Do however follow given instructions to avoid the worst sections.
Location, location, location just breathtaking with stunning views over the crocodile river complete with Hippos, Water Buffalo and Elephant taking a dip. Quality room in a quality home with great food and a wonderful host who really pushed the boat out. Brilliant stop over pity we couldn’t have stayed a bit longer.

United KingdomI have no notes for the lodge! But I would advise future guests to drive very carefully and slowly through Marloth Park as the roads really need to be grated/maintained. If you're renting a car, buy the insurance! I can't knock the property for this as its out of their control entirely and I had a truly fabulous stay.
This is an exceptional place to stay. Bertus, the manager, is super attentive and lovely. I took the "king room, upper floor" and it was expansive, with a gorgeous bathtub, super comfortable bed, and phenomenal views of the river and Kruger National Park. I had supper and breakfast at the property, both of which were prepared to order by the lovely cook onsite. It's so nice to have a homemade meal while travelling. If some of the local fauna turn up at the back door, you may even get a chance to feed them and get some closeup pics! I spent other nights staying within Kruger National Park and found that the accommodation there pales in comparison on all fronts. This Lodge beats the park on price, comfort, staff, service, amenities, everything, all at once.
