How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Jennie is a great host and made us feel very welcome and was always at hand to attend to any needs we had. The rooms are clean. The Guesthouse is very close to restaurants and supermarkets. A short walk to UCT campus. Beautiful outdoor sitting area. And the breakfast was amazing. I would definitely stay at Knightsbury again.

We were in Cape Town for my daughter's cheerleading competition at the University. Jenny's place was a walking distance to the venue. Jenny and Johan were so helpful and friendly. They went over and beyond to make our stay a pleasant one. The breakfast was amazing too. Will definitely stay there again and will recommend to friends and family. It felt like we were home away from home.

Because of the security reasons, they couldn't keep the luggage for a day of check-out. I wanted them to keep the luggage until the afternoon before moving to another town, but they said they cannot.
Very nice room and breakfast. Enjoyed staying there.

What an absolutely perfect place to stay in Cape Town. Jenny greeted us and gave us advice, amazing breakfast, and a cozy private room. It was easy to get anywhere in Cape Town, and university was just a short walk. I would definitely stay again, without a doubt.

Jenny created a breakfast especially for us which we thoroughly enjoyed. The guest house was just a 3 minute walk from the Baxter Theatre and restaurant. There was secure parking behind gates. Easy access to main routes. The guesthouse is situated in a quiet and upmarket residential suburb of Rondebosch.

Nothing, they have captured so well the essence of a guest house.
If you are attending UCT functions or need to be around Rondebosch, this place is perfect 🥰. Super convenient and easily accessible. Jenny and Johan are great hosts, they make a wonderful breakfast. It was Easter time so Jenny made sure there were Easter marshies to enjoy on your way in or out of the house. They are a well traveled couple and have great stories to tell. I particularly liked how clean my room was.

Jenny and Johan run an exquisite guest house. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Jenny's attention to detail can be seen everywhere. I loved the Charlotte Rhys products in the bathroom. The breakfast was delicious with the aroma of fresh basil drifting through the open window. Thank you so much and it was a pleasure to meet you. Kobus & Adinda Smit

The gate to the parking was quite a shock. I think a warning will help.
I loved the location. The room was well equipped. Breakfast was great and all our various allergies were taken into account.

The location was especially good, nice and quiet compared to some areas of Cape Town. Jenny was a fabulous host and breakfasts were delicious. The room was basic but had everything I needed, I especially loved the nice big windows to let in fresh air. Off street park was offered and very convenient.

Very clean, superb hosts who go the extra mile to make sure your stay is comfortable. Very filling breakfast. Hosts pay attention to detail to ensure guests receive exactly what they need. We were offered early check in as our flight landed in the morning hours.

There was nothing that I didn't like to be honest. The overall experience is amazing.
The location is spectacular surrounded by all the greenery, the breakfast is to die for and Jenny is such a great host always smiling and so friendly.
