Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Very warm welcome from Elisabeth and her manager, George. Fabulous location with views of both Lion’s Head and Table Mountain and an easy walk into all the bars and restaurants of Kloof Street. The property is just beautiful with a lovely bedroom, huge bathroom and a separate kitchen/dining area. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Cape Town.

Beautiful old residence. Suite of bedroom, enormous bathroom and living area with vast views from the terrace over the garden to Lion's Head. Fabulous friendly hosts provided lots of little extras. Great eating places within 10 minutes walk or buy food in and use the facilities. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful place to stay in Cape Town. Lovely welcoming people. Much bigger than we expected and the pool area was lovely and private. We would have liked to stay longer. We felt safe walking around the neighbourhood. We used the city sightseeing hop on hop off bus, about 15 mins walk away (downhill). Ubers are very cheap to come back in the evening. We also walked up Lions Head from the house. It took 2 hours to the top and was the highlight of our trip.

NetherlandsThe interior of this property is seriously stunning. If you’re searching to stay in a nice area in Cape Town and in a lovely characteristic ambiance, this is definitely the place to book. Me and my sister loved every part of it. And the owners are very hospitable and kind. We would definitely come back!

United KingdomAn interesting sqaure lavatory seat that we chatted with Elisabeth about. It is based on a Victorian style and doesn't encourage lingering!
This is a fabulous accommodation. The setting is quite magnificent and the service we received was exceptional. Elisabath, the owner and George the very efficient housekeeper could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable. We would most definitely stay here again when next in Cape Town. We can highly recommend this wonderful private apartment.

United StatesLiked everything, but pool too small for swimming.
Good, safe location. Easy Uber into city center and other sights, also walkable to local restaurants. Beautiful view to Lion’s head with backdrop of Table Mountain. Spacious room and adequate kitchen facilities for 2. George, caretaker, looked after us during our stay and lives on premises, as does owner Elizabeth. Nice courtyard/garden to relax in with “dipping” pool.

The property is incredibly spacious and takes up the entire front floor of this beautiful house. You have privacy and sole use of the pool and outside area. I was working and there was excellent WiFi due to the solar electricity generation. There was also quiet air conditioning which we did use successfully at night as it was hotter than average. My wife was with me and made use of all the facilities. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the toiletries smelt divine. The property is a 10 min walk to the top of kloof st with fabulous restaurants. We also ate in some evenings because the venue was so special. It has spectacular views of table mountain and Lions head and the sunsets were stunning. The host kindly also left us a complimentary bottle of wine and lots of goodies with an honesty system. We met the owner Elizabeth who was charming and interesting. The housekeeper George was wonderful. He is funny, bright and very responsive. We also felt safe in the area and wondering around.

The location was excellent with Table Mountain towering over us but Kloof Street with all its many restaurants was only 10-15 minutes walk away. A peaceful neighbourhood. We had the entire ground floor with a terrace overlooking our pool and stunning views to the mountains - the perfect place to sit and read or sip a G+T. Our hosts, Elizabeth and Roy, were extremely helpful with advice and assistance...and George did a fantastic job running the place and looking after us.

We stayed for 5 nights and it felt like a little paradise within the city. The house feels so cosy and was very clean. The bed is really comfortable and the shower is amazing! When you get out of the front door, you have this wonderful view of Lionshead and when you turn your head you can see the Table Mountain. We had good weather and enjoyed the swimming pool and sunbathing chairs. George, the house manager, takes such good care of the house and it’s guests. It is also a very safe area and really quiet. We were so sad to leave and will definitely come back one day!

United KingdomCould have stayed longer!
This property is just a beautiful place with character and lots of space inside and out. We had a lovely private garden area with sun beds and small pool and dining area with steps up to the entrance with a lovely terrace which ran the full length of the building and had a great view of the Lion's head and Table mountain. Elisabeth and Eric looked after us so well, and what a bonus to meet Alfie the great dane and chatting to Roy. The area, in 'Gardens' is quiet and we felt extremely safe there with plenty of room on the street to park our car. This is without doubt the best accommodation we have stayed in in Cape town and hope to return next year.
