That our stay came to an end and that we had to come home

We stayed 2 nights here and loved everything about our stay and more, the executive one bedroom suite was wow. It was so spacious, fresh and had great views from terrace and big windows which we saw monkeys and nyalas going past, the lodge has great facilities, the staff were so friendly and welcoming especially Rudolph engaging in chat during meal times, the food was great and the game drives were a highlight! Seeing the animals in the wild and having George and Gabriel as our tracker and guide really made the experience. We loved the thrill of every drive and not knowing what we were going to see. We loved hearing all the sounds of animals at night when back at the lodge and the views and sitting areas around the lodge. The night guard (didn't get his name) was so friendly and funny had great chats when being escorted back to our room. I celebrated my birthday the day we arrived and got presented with a gluten free cake after dinner and the staff singing, such a special memory. You have every chance to see the big five here, it's a beautiful reserve and well maintained. Also a private dinner was set up for us by a roaring fire on our final night, it was such a lovely surprise and a special way to have some time just us two and reflect on our unforgettable adventure here. Thank you river lodge, we hope to return to SA in the future ♥️

We loved everything! Amazing lodge and a great location to see wildlife. Worth every penny you pay. From the food to the safaris to the rooms, everything was perfect. Would definitely stay again.

The water pressure was fluctuating sometimes for shower and the spa / massage wasn’t to my liking fully but can’t fault the kindness of staff tho.

The food was amazing. The chef is excellent. The stuff is very nice and attentive. Not to mention the game drive it’s amazing to have two a day. Special thanks to Matthew and Forget ! Amazing people to do game drive with ! Lifetime experience !💙

One thing thats should be possible is to book a day extra without the morning and afternoon gamedrive. So you should have the oportonity to enjoy the fsilitys like the pool etc.

Everything was exceptional from all the lodge staff to the the very knowledgeable trackers and drivers . The meals were excellent and a great variety to choose from. The accomodation was superb. Overall a wonderful stay at a fantastic property

The only negative I would say is we found the bed a little uncomfortable for us as a couple. The problem we experienced was it was a king made from 2 bed together and the centre was uncomfortable. If you both stick to a side it was very comfortable. The bedding was lovely. The room was wonderful.

We had all are meals including. They were all delicious, beautifully presented, good variety and the staff always had a smile and friendly conversation. I have several dietary needs that they worked very hard to work with. Our room was beautiful and located on the river, very private with a lovely relaxing view. All the common areas were beautiful, cozy , inviting and lovely views. The Staff for every aspect of our time there were just a constant pleasure. THE BEST PART … SAFARIS… wow What a privilege to view the magnificent animals, birds, insects, trees, scenery and everything Mother nature chose for us to see. And to have the experience with a kind, well trained, caring guide and tracked was truly a blessing. The jeeps are comfortable and the animals are plenty ! Just an experience of a life time. Special thanks to Evens our guide, James our tracker and Johnathan our everything guy. And all the staff that made us feel so welcome, safe and comfortable Thank you all 💕

Safari was not the greatest because of its quite a bushy place. It was the tracker and tourguide that made sure it was a great experience. They had great knowledge. If you want to see big 5, you can at this place. My first safari in South Africa. Been to Tanzania and that safari was just out of this world, but missed out on Rhino in Tanzania. Karongwe had allot of huge Rhinos.

The lodge was absolutley gorgeus. We stayed at the president suite because the family room was occupied. It was so nice. Service was 100%, food was great and my wife had a birthday and they shoved up with cake and sang for her. Only thing we had eaten to much so it was impossible to eat all the cake. Great safari because of Johnatan and Johannes on safari. Never gave up on thoose Buffalos. We got 4 out of 5 the big 5. Last day was the best with allot of elephants and lions. Huge elephants and white Rhinos

Should have stayed more days but price is expensive.

The property is amazing, beautiful and insert in the nature with many animas around. Perfect meals and lovely staff who made a surprise for us on my wife birthday. The safari are unique experience and ranger are helpful and always trying to help. Is a must go.

Very slow WiFi. For the price we paid (700 euro) I expected a little more beyond the comforts of the room. Outside it feels a bit bare and there’s not much to do. Also I would advise more than just 3 options on the a la carte menu.

It would have been nice to have a small gym to work out as we had fair amount of downtime. Also the pool was lovely but we would have enjoyed a float to lay on.

The reserve has over 10,000 acres with at least five different lodges on the reserve. Staff very attentive and helpful. We received a welcome drink upon arrival. We got to see the big five over the course of our daily safaris. Our guide Stefan and tracker Alfred were great. Each safari we always saw lots of animals. The food was delicious and we received a welcome back drink after the afternoon drive. I should mention that we stayed at the Becks safari lodge and not at karongwe river lodge. Nice little gift shop on the premises.

Only point of improvement: when ordering a new bottle of wine it unfortunately it was often warm.

Staff was always very friendly and attentive. Great views and clean and spacious rooms. What we liked most were our daily drives with our guide George and tracker Gabriel. They made an amazing team, spotted all of the animals we hoped for and provided lots of great insights! We definitely enjoyed our time and every drive to the fullest.
