We had luke warm water one day and the next morning it was cold. As they had a sign up saying they were eco friendly and used solar power we assumed it was that( as it was not sunny) but apparently it wasn’t and we should have mentioned it early? The owners seemed rather colonial and had a superior attitude The room was rather dark and view limited The journey to and from the main road was very uneven and uncomfortable to drive The journey to the Scotia game drive was very long and down very bumpy roads- beware if you have back problems. Rather expensive with all the extras

Breakfast was amazing and the views from the balcony were wonderful. The staff were incredibly helpful especially when my husband became poorly!! We managed to stay for another night.

We loved our stay at the Hitgeheim Country lodge! First and foremost, what made our stay exceptional was the staff - thanks again to them for being so friendly, helpful as well as experienced to make our stay truly special. Second, the views from the Lodge are just stunning. We were lucky enough to get to the hotel in February and got a free upgrade on our room, so we ended up in the Family Suite with Private pool - absolutely unreal to sit in the pool and have the view over the valley. Finally, we also booked the safari through the lodge, and it really didn't disappoint! A friend told us he did a self drive 3 days in a row and only got to see elephants out of the big 5, but we managed to see two lions and two buffalos on top of probably 50 elephants in our 4h drive in the park! Our driver / guide had binoculars for eyes and could spots animals in the distance in a very impressive way, so we are very happy we did the safari with him instead of the self drive.

The perfect location, close to Addo and Schotia as well as the coast but secluded enough for a very peaceful stay. Our room was spacious with the most incredible view. Dinner and breakfast were delicious as well. We did a Schotia game drive and Johannes, our Hitgeheim guide, was knowledgeable and very kind to us! The owner, Archie, made the time to introduce himself when we arrived as well as send us off on our last day with some very helpful information. Really great stay!

The property offered a very authentic experience. The staff were super friendly and helpful, the rooms were spacious and clean and offered an amazing view. We can recommend the Safari excursion to Schotia.

Outdoor shower is amazing, everything else also feels very luxurious! Food is very good We booked the safari in the Addo elephant park, which was great. We got a beautiful picnic basket and everything was planned!

Everything was amazing, only thing that was a personal minor negative thing was the room is directly connected to the bathroom which has very large windows (very beautiful) and so the sunlight came in very early in the morning (room doesn’t get so dark).

Beautiful location, amazing view, superbe restaurant and unforgettable staff! We came with our baby and they were so kind and helpful. Rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated. The bed is awesome. Very luxurious stay!

We liked the staff, especially Johann who picked us up from the airport and then dropped us at our next location. He welcomed us and was very nice. We liked the restaurant and the view with beautiful birds as well. We stayed with kids so we also liked that our rooms were connecting. The rooms were confortable.

Old school professionalism. Everything was well organized, clearly run by a stickler for detail, process and timekeeping. We did not have to think about or ask about anything, everything works, rooms are serviced each time we left it, the meals are served on time, are of exceptional quality and the staff are helpful, friendly and most importantly, non intrusive.

We had a huge spider and a scorpion in our room, but that is what you get when you stay in pure nature :) it was a little adventurous, but did not make our stay any less relaxing.

It’s a bit pricey. Additional to it you also have to pay separately for all safaris they offer. The timing of them are a bit difficult to accommodate if you are not staying for seral days.

Great property, amazing and spacious room and bathroom, and additional privet external areas, with shower and a nice balcony with a view! The restaurant is great, breakfast and dinner options, and drinks available. Staff as usual excellent with also very nice common areas.

It is in a glorious location, so peaceful. Second time to Hitgeheim. Room 9 has a outdoor shower and it’s own pool! I couldn’t be happier. The food is a simple menu but absolutely delicious. Breakfast with a stunning view. Staff are warm and very helpful. Definitely will come back.
