Fish bird is a beautiful 100 year old house, which has been beautifully restored. It is incredibly clean and very comfortable. The breakfast is great as well!

Everything was great, wish we had longer time. Maybe the room could do with an electric heater in the heart of the winter, but this is something that guests staying longer could probably request as the service was really brilliant.

A great charming converted house with lovely garden overlooking Johannesburg and when the weather is warm enough, the pool is an added bonus! Fantastic communal fully equipped kitchen. Great service by Percy, the Mgr!

First of all a big thank you to Percy who runs the place. He made a big difference with his genuine smile and excellent recommendations. He really took care of us making us feel like home. The breakfast was great, the beds were as comfy as they can get, location is central, yet peaceful, nothing more to ask for.

1923 Home so beautifully restored: incredible view, 15m pool and beautiful rooms. My daughter and I felt very safe in the heart of Johannesburg, Kensington. Home secured via an alarm at night—safe parking in the property.

What a perfect stay! The property is so clean and beautiful. The views on Joburg are insane. Breakfast is very good and complete. Thanks to Perry for helping with everything. He is literally available 24h! Always checking on you when you come back to the hotel, saying some kind words. The hosts Xavier and his wife are SO kind and welcoming. Helped a lot with some recommendations. Feeling safe in the area and in the garden, they have security gates. I will come back!!

After careful consideration, there was nothing to complain about and all was really good

We loved the feeling of being welcome, safe and taken care of. The property has been beautifully and carefully restored to a genuine Art Deco experience which is unique, very comfortable and peaceful. Percy, the young man who manages this guest house is a caring and very respectful host. As a qualified cook he prepared for us a sumptuous breakfast every day and we honestly felt as if we were in a 5 star hotel. The Villa is a memorable option if you want to explore a marvellous city and a city that is bouncing back to its former self. We will certainly come back.

What an amazing stay! Fishbird will be my go-to spot when I am in Johannesburg now. The property is beautiful with an incredible view of the valley below and so many lovely spaces to rest and relax (including the swimming pool!). The room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully decorated. It was like a little oasis in the city with easy access to the airport and into the city centre. A special thanks to Percy who really went above and beyond to ensure I had a great stay. Meeting Percy is worth the trip to Johannesburg alone! Highly recommend Fishbird!

The kitchen has a nice big fridge that customers can put their stuff in, but It would also be nice if the rooms had private fridges and the other room had a private TV. Only our room had a TV and the kids' room didn't.

Very intimate and serene place. Good for family with kids. The staff was exceptionally friendly. The artistic theme of the decor created such special memories. The availability or solar power and borehole water brilought peace of mind during Joburg power cuts and the water crisis

Not recommended to walk at night in neighborhood.

About halfway between airport and center of town. Decorated with excellent taste. Percy went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. Help with supper, transportation. Even very early breakfast for early flight.

I wish there were more dustbins in the compound.

The property was clean and had a great view of the city. The antique decor is really amazing if that’s your sort of thing. For the price, it’s really worth it.

Excellent, stylish and very comfortable guest house with a warm welcome very close to the centre of Johannesburg. The manager and the hosts are extremely friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was delicious. We could not have been better looked after. Highly recommended!

Super clean and cozy stay. Delicious breakfast with peaceful and spectacular view. Excellent service from the friendly manager, Percy. It was quite chilly so the electric blanket was great. We had the whole place to ourselves for most of our stay which was an added bonus!
