How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

That it was super cold. However luckily there was an extra blanket and a fan heater which helped with the cold.
That it was close to the UFS, a walking distance. Had everything I needed and a beautiful outdoor garden.

Nothing to do with the guesthouse itself, but transport in Bloemfontein is tricky. I would recommend hiring a car.
The owners are exceptionally friendly, allowed me to bookin early, checked in if I was ok. And offered me alternative wifi when they had hardware issues. The space is very comfortable, enough warmth for cold Bloem, the beds are comfortable, the shower and bathroom comfortable.

It was so beautiful,the host was really amazing. There was literally everything you can think of in the room. They have a little dog,so I mentioned how terrified I am of dogs and they kept the dog away because I didn’t see it until I left. I really enjoyed my stay.

The location was convenient for me. It’s PET friendly. From the moment we arrived we felt right at home. I travelled with my 3 cats and parrot. We stayed longer than we initially intended, we were well accommodated. The couple checks in from time to time to ensure you’re doing well. They are always readily available to assist with anything. There’s a solar panel, so geyser is always hot. They have battery operated lights for loadshedding times, game changer. Highly recommend

The beds were a little uncomfortable but everything else was fantastic.
It was exactly what we needed. Somewhere to sleep for the night that was close to our function, very clean and at a great price.

The bed felt a bit saggy and the toilet and shower are good. I wasn't sure if it was communal because you go through a door into a little passage where they are two other doors.
Perfect for my needs, they didn't mind my Swiss Shepherd being there and my cat. It's a great place to spend a night and I enjoyed my stay. Even though I only arrived at midnight they stayed awake and available for me which I really appreciate.

It is a pity that this gem of a stay is situated in a neglected neighborhood.
Great value for what you pay. Easy check in and out. The room has a brand new, modern vibe to it with excellent quality bedding and linen. As it is to the side of the house, with it's own entrance, it provides total privacy. Sufficient outside lighting if you should return at night is convenient and in the unit, alternative lighting is provided in the case of any power outages.

For me it would have to be the trip over there because I didn't follow directions but it was soon corrected because I called them and they directed me well.
The place is very clean and everything in there is of great quality, from the beds, to the linen all the way to the kitchen utensils. It is very comfortable and there is also outdoor space if you want to sit outside and relax. It is in a residential area but you don't feel it when you are inside because it is nice and quiet.

needs to packing space for people who stay for more than one night, and a kitchen sink even if just outside the door, apart from that it was very confy, friendly and very good

They could consider adding TVs in the rooms. It’s not a complaint, just a recommendation, since some guests might appreciate it. Personally, I don’t watch TV, so it wasn’t an issue for me.
The place was clean, and the owners made us feel welcome. I really enjoyed my stay, and if I go back to Bloem, this would be the first place I’d consider.
