Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaHazyview and surrounding towns are not in a great condition. We left the Kruger National Park earlier than 18:00 when the gates closed to ensure we arrive at the guesthouse before it is completely dark. I also suggest not leaving the park through Numbi gate - there are no road markings and unpainted speed bumps in a 60 km/h zone. Rather plan your trip to leave the Kruger Park through Phabeni gate.
Philip and Margi were great hosts and assisted us to plan our day. They are most helpful and knows the area very well. We followed their recommendation to go to the Graskop Gorge Lift and was not disappointed. Breakfast was also perfect. The guesthouse also had back-up water supply when the water supply was out in town.

AustraliaHad a great stay at Blue Jay Lodge, a little oasis in the Hazyview area. Phil and Margi are such lovely, warm, and welcoming hosts. The room was spotless and super comfortable. The gardens are beautiful, perfect for relaxing with a drink and enjoying a BBQ in the evening. Breakfast on the deck was nice, and they were happy to arrange a packed breakfast for our day trips too. Highly recommend!

AustraliaThe hosts Phil and Margi were very friendly and welcoming. We can't speak highly enough of them, gave us lots of help and advice to ensure we got the best out of our experience in Hazyview. The room was great and the breakfast, very kindly cooked personally by Phil, was delicious! 😋Not forgetting Margi preparing a packed lunch for our early morning trip into the Kruger park. Thank you both very much 🙂

GermanyAll was above expectation.
We were greeted by the hosts Phil and Margi, which are super super friendly and nice. The suite we were staying in (the sunbird suite, named after the painting by a Cape Town artist) was amazing, very spacious, and clean and nothing we would have missed. Phil and Margi gave good recommendations for us to use our free time perfectly in and around Hazyview. As we were the only guests for breakfast on our first morning, we were treated especially nicely with a perfect breakfast. Additionally the game drive we did was organized through Phil and Margi which was a no brainer. We would definitely come back again! Thank you!

South AfricaWe cannot fault anything about the property and during our stay there, we saw the biggest ever snail that we have EVER seen!! A good 6 inches long. (Photo attached)
It was central to all that we wanted to do and close to the shops and restaurants as well.

United KingdomPhil and Margi were wonderful hosts and welcomed us when we arrived. The room we stayed in (Paradise) was so large and beautiful in the African style, and everything was clean! Working aircon which was essential in the summer heat (35-39 deg celsius when we stayed). Thoughtful touches included a set of earplugs in the room, umbrellas and an emergency light. Good advice from Phil and Margi regarding local activities. Breakfast was exceptional! It was such a lovely stay.

South AfricaNo microwave in the room considering they do not have a diner on the premises. We managed to warm our food in the main kitchen though with no issues. No smart TV as well which has become standard with most 4 star establishments.
The bathroom is also very spacious and enjoyable. The bed, mosquito net, bath robes and the atmosphere was amazing. The hosts were lovely. Made us feel at home. I needed crutches as my ankle was painful and they gave me a pair to use for the whole duration of our stay. Each room has 2 umbrellas even. Which was awesome. The breakfast was fresh and well prepared.
