Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing. Everything was perfect.
We had a wonderful stay at Black Rhino Lodge. The food was exceptional, the service outstanding, and the game drives truly unforgettable. A special thank you to Stiaan for being such an excellent guide, to the chef for creating memorable meals, and to the warm, friendly staff who were always kind and helpful. A particular mention goes to Rosinah and the rest of the team for making us feel so welcome. This was our first safari, and the experience was so incredible that I found myself looking at dates to return next year before our stay had even ended. We will be back soon!

BelgiumEverything was perfect. Our room was spacious and spotless, with three showers – one outdoor and two indoor – and a large bathtub. We loved that the room was cleaned during morning game drive, with towels folded into fun animal shapes, and that during our afternoon game drives, the staff prepared the bed for the night (night service). The food was excellent, and the staff were friendly and professional. The two daily game drives with Cliff, our knowledgeable ranger, were a highlight. Sharing these unforgettable moments together made our stay truly magical – a perfect blend of adventure and romance.

BelgiumSquirrels in the roof of our lodge.... Learned that they can make a lot of noise during the night. Management changed our room after telling.
Very nice game resort, we had Dolfie as ranger, funny guy, the national parc is very large, so looking for wildlife is a challenge , but the resort itself is a very nice experience! Good was good, breakfast delicious, we really enjoyed our stay!

AustraliaThe restaurant was under renovation, so all meals had to be eaten outside on a verandah. It was winter and there weren't enough portable heaters so we were very cold at meal times.
The staff and service was fantastic. The room was a great size, extremely comfortable and clean. There was a good choice of food and the quality was great. The included Game drives were fantastic and the guide Clifford was very knowledgeable. We saw a wide variety of animals.

United KingdomSadly the afternoon tea (which is served between 2-4pm instead of lunch) was consistently of quite poor quality. It was all very unhealthy and 'beige' - no fresh vegetables, protein options or salad at all, just sweet and savoury pastries, deep fried foods and cakes. Many of the iced buns / sweetened bread products were also stale sadly. It seems a real shame that the overall amazing food offer is let down by this afternoon tea but it would be quite a simple thing to fix if they gave an option of a few salads with a grilled chicken breast for example alongside the less healthy and heavy options.
We stayed at Black Rhino Lodge for 3 nights recently and overall had a truly wonderful time. We booked a luxury suite which definitely lived up to the name (other than super firm mattresses which aren't to everyone's tastes I know). The communal lodge areas are decorated beautifully and looked after really well by the team. The outdoor lounge area is especially lovely when it's sunny and warm outside, and the fireplace inside is perfect for cold weather. Our game driver, Dolfie, was a lot of fun and super knowledgeable, sharing lots of interesting information with us every time we drove out with him. We all saw the animals we wanted to see most and had a great time on every drive. I do have to warn people that the morning drive can be up to 5-6 hours long which is double the length of the game drives I've been on at other reserves / lodges. Some people might love this but I did find it to be a bit too much, especially on very cold winter mornings! The sunset drives are amazing, never longer than 3-4 hours and include lovely sundowner drinks and snacks. The food at the lodge was very good for the most part - breakfast / brunch and dinner were consistently really excellent and I cannot fault anything I was served (and I'm a chef by profession). On one night we ate outdoors in the 'boma' area which was a really unique and lovely experience. The fire kept us warm and the food was absolutely delicious - traditional South African braai (BBQ) meats, curries and all sorts of side dishes. Plus a few delicious dessert options. Finally, everyone who works at this lodge is absolutely delightful. So warm and friendly and willing to do whatever they can to help you and make your stay enjoyable! I'd definitely return if they changed the afternoon meal setup and will still recommend this lodge to others regardless. Really a very special place!!

South AfricaEven though the chalet was really nice, there was a few small things wrong. Cupboard doors were worn and curtains were dirty at some places. The lodge seems to cater mostly for foreigners and I feel like even though we have a good time, the lodge is a bit pricey for locals. We were the only South Africans guests and felts a bit 'out'.
Beautiful place and well positioned. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Food was really good and we enjoyed the boma dinner. We walked into a clean room each morning with a little gift and perfectly folded towels on our bed.
