How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewIt's on the beach, and you can watch sunrises over the ocean. The room is beautifully set up and very clean.
The top unit has very steep stairs so be aware of this if you book and struggle with stairs. But otherwise no complaints.

Verified reviewThe Cabanas was homely and comfortable... It had all the necessary equipment needed and such a beautiful view... We had the privacy we needed as a couple and the host was warm and welcoming. Parking is safe and secure and we were so close to the beach and shops plus a beautiful private pool within the Cabanas. Will definitely be back.

Verified reviewClose proximity to the beach. No driving is required! The unit was all that a couple could need. It was clean and neat. The views were amazing. The host was friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back
It's a bit of a tight squeeze to get in and out of the driveway, especially with a bakkie. Better to use a car.

At 6:30pm we used the braai facilities, the owner came out screaming and said I could leave because she wants no noise. I told her there's a better way to address me if we are to loud. Anys we decided to cancel the braai. It was a bad experience were spent more time out of the property because of the owners bad attitude. The property is for sale and rooms are not well maintained. Also there's no shop on the premises has stated on the website.

Firstly the time was not at 6:30 when my husband came to ask you to please be quiet and to stop the continuous swearing with the friends that you brought on to our premises. At 10pm it got so bad that I approached you and your non paying guests as well as yourself started arguing with me. The fact that you were all under the influence and the using offensive language changed my approach to you and I told you that your guests should leave the premises. This was at 10pm. The fact that you told me on arrival that you will be visiting family and friends down the north and south coast is the reason that you were not at the property and not the bad attitude.. I am not sure where you get the shop on the premises as we had a beach shop that has been closed for 15 yrs. already and is not advertised on our site. Lastly we take pride in our property and since we had other guests booked in as well, your behaviour was unacceptable. All our guests have been very satisfied with our accommodation and service as you can see on our reviews.

Verified reviewBeautiful place. Excellent location. I can’t even remember how many times we walked to the beach because it was so close. Betty was also a good host. Our stay was everything we had hoped for and more. Also very quiet and peaceful. Absolutely beautiful!
Everything was great, the tiniest thing I didn’t like was that all the towels were navy. Good thing I had brought my own big towels. So if you’re fussy about how clean your towels are, like me,I suggest bringing your own.
