South AfricaHousekeeping following rules to not give more than one spoon/stirrer daily, could do so while still ensuring customer care. We missplaced our stirrer and were then unable to make any more hot beverages thereafter due to their refusal to give us one more. This is miniscule in the greater scheme of things as the lodge overall ALWAYS meets or exceeds our expectations. It was our third time staying there.
They go above and beyond. At the buffet, when you need extras, they'd even bring out from kitchen when items were not in the buffet (e.g. Fresh avo, smoothie, etc.). They offered to make soft porridge for my fussy son and they were just overall so attentive and hospitable. Game drive guides are always outstanding in their knowledge and patience with everyone. The staff exude warmness and hospitality - I can't emphasise this enough. You feel right at home with them!

South AfricaThe food on Saturday night was not very good as we didnt go to boma braai and there wasnt a buffet selection like Friday. We stayed in the hotel and there was a party a couple of rooms away from us that went on until 5am and was very loud. Whilst not in Bakukubung's control the roads in Pilansberg were terrible and a real embarresment for South Africa. It is getting to the stage where almost impossible to go on self drives anymore which if it doesnt improve will force more South Africans to go elsewhere which will affect places like Bakubung, Kwa Maritane etc
Room was large and very comfortable. Breakfast ion both days was good but items in pots eg bacon, sausages etc were cold. Dinner on Friday night was exceptional!

South AfricaWe booked a game drive and we got feedback to be there by 16h00. After arriving we were told the game drive had already left at 15h00. The staff kindly arranged for us to be taken to the drive, but we still missed the first hour. The drive was also unfortunately with a "company" group, which ended up to be very loud and disrupting when you actually want to go on a quiet game drive, and not a chaotic tousist experience. (I do understand the company event though, so it is not their fault) These groups should be split up, as it totally destroys the atmosphere on a drive, especially for our international guests who were there for one night.
Bakubung is great for a quick getaway and lodge experience at a reasonable price. The room was awesome, dinner and breakfast was exceptional.

South AfricaI would personally have liked some sort of animal lookout similar to the Hide at Kwa Maritane. I feel Bakubung is missing a good lookout all hours of the day. Evenings would have loved to sit at one of the lookouts to see which animals came out.
It was stunning. Thanks for a lovely stay. The kids loved it. The game drives were amazing, the food exceptional and one of the biggest unexpected treats when you see many mongoose visiting the pool in the afternoons. We could literally touch them if we wanted to.

South AfricaThe rooms didn’t have a single Euro socket anywhere. We had to go to reception to get an adaptor. I would highly recommend a multi plug or changing at least one of the plugs to accommodate a Euro aka two-pin plug.
Incredible value! The rooms are very spacious. The staff are incredibly friendly. The game drive was excellent and the Boma dinner was a delightful surprise. Definitely coming back.

United KingdomIt’s quite tired, especially the rooms. We couldn’t even sit on our balcony as it was covered in bird poo daily. They don’t give you unlimited WiFi which is ridiculous for how much you pay to stay there. We’ve never had this before. They supposedly give you a certain amount of data but interesting that for both of us it expired at exactly 11pm the night before check out. The least you expect is free WiFi as a guest throughout your stay. We didn’t understand why the game drives were the times they were. The morning one the first hour is in the dark and the evening one the last hour is in the dark. So you’re essentially losing an hour of opportunity to see animals. I don’t understand why you wouldn’t shift these timings to coincide with daylight. We saw a lot more driving ourselves during the daytime too. Not much choice for timings to do game drives either I don’t know why there aren’t more options.
Great location right next to the entrance to the park. Buffet food was nice and more veggie friendly than expected. Loved the dinner in the bush and would highly recommend! Great staff all very nice and friendly.
