It's a gem of a place. With exceptional beauty, facilities, and so much to see and experience. We saw so many animals up close, infact it was beyond our expectations. The food was worth writing home about and had a huge variety to choose from.. Staff were helpful, and they always had a smile to share. I highly recommend it! ♡♡♡

The room is very cold, and the heater is not sufficient to create a warm atmosphere.

I really enjoyed the safari trip and the buffet.

No pool option for children (in winter). No gym/ place to walk or run. Felt a caged in with not being able to exercise or go on walks. A walking trail would be beneficial.

The selection of food was good and the setting with the backdrop of the reserve was brilliant. Spa facilities were great. The young rangers was very educational for the kids. We also really enjoyed the ecosystem tour.

To much food. Could not help to wunder about us sitting with these pileses of foods comparing it with the hungry in ex. Hayalitsha. I understand that with a diversity of visitors you, you are catering for variuos tastes. I will must rather eat from a menu. I will go there again, but definetly not in a standard room, it have to be at least a premium lodge or family cottage.

All I ate was good and well prepared. Was well please that there are some catering for smokers but these areas canbe improved with something as small as a few garden years and tables. Smokers also spend our money to be there. It is not a crasch course to stop smoking and it is inconveniet to fall around to find a smokers friendly aread. IT damens my enthuasimh for the place.

The Safari Game was disappointing, the land is so big and the animals are so few,, they can add more Giraffes, Zebra’s and many more animals, iv been to many Safari’s in South Africa but this had the lowest number of animals I’ve seen , it felt like we are just touring a empty garden

They have a schedule and activities you can do while ur at the property, all meals are included in the booking and the staff where nice

👎: after paying over 500€ for one night, having to pay extra to go into the spa pool. I have never experienced this in any hotel in the world. It leaves a bad taste. 👎: being rushed through dinner. I still had food in my mouth and my plate was grabbed from the table. Didn't ask for the bill - it's just being brought. I felt stressed and rushed. 👎 : no 2 point plugs or possibility to charge phones. Needs to be updated, since almost all guests are foreign.

👌 : our Guides, Ayden and his Partner in the Morning was excellent!! 👌 : the beds 👌: the food

The spa is not accessible to U16s. This information was not visible on Booking.com when we booked. As a result, our boys were expected to use the outdoor pool, which was freezing as it was winter. There was very little for our 11 and 13 year old children to do, other than the safaris.

The safaris were excellent! The food and service were fantastic.

The cabins are dark, dated, and not homey at all. Very underwhelming at the price point.

Super conveniently located on the way back from the Garden Route and into Cape Town. Food is adequate and the outside common areas are lovely. The staff is super friendly, particularly the guides.

Rooms could have been cleaner with better amenities and all. I mean at this price the least you'd expect is a stinking wash room. Honestly the price seemed like an extortion for this quality.

Safari was decent. Of course it was all staged, but the guides did a great job in making it as real as it could get.

Meals were very limited and only catered for specific religious groups. Did not specify on the websites that children under 16 are not allowed to make use of some of the facilities and activities that were the attraction to choose that venue (eg. Spa, horse riding and quad-bikes).

Accommodated very well for children’s specific meal needs outside of the set menus. Very good and well informed field guides.

The lack of food choice, a restaurant offering local meats would have been better. The buffet was good for breakfast, but not for dinner. Average to be honest. The room itself was slanted, which felt off putting. Leaning forward, so getting up at night with the tilted room was very disorienting. No milk in the room for.coffee or tea, waited 40 min after asking three times. The small pile of firewood, enough for 30min. I ask on 2 occasions for 2 bags..I had no issue paying for it, if that was the issue. Onsite barista for food coffee would be a good send. The panels in the room had not been turned on.

The location, game drive and the experience. The abundance of animals. The food was good, but will explain more below. Spa was great and relaxing, very nicely laid out. The fireplace in the main hall was great. The view from there overlooking the bush was lovely, elephants and animals can be seen while eating breakfast.

It's a nice reserve for the first time experience on a game drive because due to the smaller size the possibility of seeing the animals is quite high, we had a nice guide for the drives and it was also possible to see some animals like ostrich and elephants directly from the pool :-) we would recommend to stay overnight because you can see the Stars perfectly

Very surprised by the negative reviews below. We had a fantastic stay at Aquila. Check in was very easy. Staff are super friendly. Whole operation is very well ran. Rooms are basic but clean - however you don’t spend a lot of time in the rooms as there is so much to do elsewhere. Food was very good and above standard of a buffet. Drives were brilliant. Our driver, Nigel, was so knowledgeable and entertaining.

The 7:00 morning game drive began promptly at 8:00. The website states 7:00. Perhaps a staff member could be placed at pickup point B to tell the guests the breakfast buffet is open, and to come back in an hour. Maybe one male lion in with the 4 lazy lionesses would be a plus. The girls must have been digesting a large meal. Since there is no television signal, a radio or XMSirius receiver would be welcome for those of us who need some sound to sleep soundly.

Food is excellent in every respect.
