How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The studio apartment is stylish and a lovely space. Coffee, tea, rusks and milk were all provided. All the cutlery and crockery is high quality and the bed is VERY comfortable.

Slight discrepancy in the property layout (studio vs separate bedroom and shower only, no bath) which can be an issue for other families. Worked ok for us as a small family
Great location, property is in mint condition and felt like being at home. Owners were very understanding and supportive on requests. Thanks Alex. If I rave too much about our stay, it might get too popular 😂

Please add a dust pan and broom so guests can clean up, we couldn't clean the crumbs frim the floor after the kids ate...
Lovely place, exactly as it looks in the pictures. Great location, the road to the island is beautiful. The hostess was happy to help with everything we needed, and was very helpful with providing info of attractions nearby. Had a great time, recommend to everyone!

The location was ideal for a little break away to see family. Easy walking distance to beach, trail and ski boats to get out and about with the kids. Lovely neighbourhood for the little ones to explore and ride bikes as well. The finishings made one feel as if the studio apartment was so much more than just a studio apartment. It was a lovely weekend and we'd definitely stay again.

This is a self catering unit fully equipped with everything we needed. Beautifully decorated and cozy. The location on Leisure Island was perfect- quiet and within walking distance of shop/ lagoon/restaurant. We loved staying there and would go back!

We did request in advance that bedding please be washed before our stay as my wife is quite sensitive to certain products & odours & we both would have preferred clean bedding that hadnt been slept or sweat in. Unfortunately the bedding did not appear to be washed & there were small hairs from previous guests which was disappointing. We did not use the duvet cover & luckily had our own pillows. Naturally was not an ideal sleeping situation, would have loved to have felt comfortable enough to sleep on clean sheets. This would be a deal breaker for me - but I wouldnt be harsh enough to rate a place so low for one area of disappointment, I hope the host will be willing to accommodate guests with requests relating to bedding & cleanliness in the future. A soap dish, holder would have been amazing. Although these are just areas for improvement - there was a body wash provided if I remember correctly.
Beautiful, neat apartment. Very cozy & in a great neighbourhood.

It is in 1st floor so be prepared for a few stairs, nothing serious.
Nice area, whole island is very safe. Apartment was clean and nice. It is more for 2 than for 4, but also family with small kids can fit in. Big bathroom. Small but fully equipped kitchen.

Lovely little apartment, ideally located on the isle and close to restaurants and the beach. Very comfortable and well equipped. Loved our stay as this was a perfect stay for passing through Knysna. Luxury!
