Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNot a thing.
What a great experience, the whole team was fantastic, staff very helpful friendly and knowledgeable. We learnt so much about 'tracking during the walking safari's. I was at first a little unsure about walking so long in the beginning, but it became a highlight of our stay. Rooms were comfortable and clean, food was tasty and plentifully. We had a great sundowner bush bar experience and our own private celebrated sundowner that the camp provided was emotionaly fantastic. Would recommend this camp to all.

MauritiusThe walk and drives with the rangers Charlie and Julian were exceptional. They are passionate and extremely knowledgeable. They went the extra mile to provide us with a rich experience of the bush. Close encounters with Lions, Leopards and all the other wild animals were really thrilling! The staff at the camp were all very friendly and welcoming.

New ZealandAbsolutely everything about Africa on Foot is amazing. Staff are attentive, kind and incredibly knowledgeable. They truly make the the place what it is. Outstanding hospitality (best we have had). Facilities are clean and tastefully decorated. Food.. Just Wowwww! Breakfast, lunch and dinner were always a treat. The pools were beautifully located and clean. The rooms were spacious. The morning walks were such a treat. The guides are first class and work hard to show you as much as possible, whilst also giving you interesting information about then bush and its animals. The arvo/night drives were out of this world. We saw soooo much. Lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, hippos, giraffes, hyenas, antelopes, birds!! And much much more. This place is a must. Don't hesitate to book. We wish we had stayed longer than 2 nights.

SwitzerlandNothing that we disliked.
Amazing place. It felt very modern and comfortable. The guides were very knowledgeable. We got very lucky and saw a cheetah up close walking past our car. The walking safari was also a bonus and different from driving safari. We would recommend walking, to learn about tracking and rhino dung. They also gave us a lovely romantic honeymoon dinner.

AustraliaNothing.
While Africa on Foot is reasonably priced, the care, attention to detail, and staff were nothing short of 5 stars. Every meal was made with the utmost thoughtfulness and care, every staff member was outstanding, every aspect of our accommodation and experience was exceptional. And then there were our guides, our master trackers and trailers, our magicians of the South African bush. Not only did they expose us to a sublime game viewing experience but seldom have we come across guides with such an extensive knowledge base. They showed an uncanny capacity to distil masses of information into exciting, accessible, fascinating, captivating stories - and about every last detail of our environment, from the macro to the micro, from heaven to earth, about plant and animal, leaf, twig and paw, trunk and tooth, wind and water, dung and track - and then blew our minds by tying it all together. In addition, they were passionate, enthusiastic, flexible, warm, funny, professional, entertaining, smart, astute and very generous. We couldn’t have dreamt up half the experience they offered. Hugest thanks, Connie and Menina (our main guides) and NT and Josh for a breathtaking, enriching, uplifting, unsurpassable experience, and to all the staff, vegetation, creatures great and small for sharing your magic.

Comfortable accommodation with a very nice communal lounge area. Really like the styling. Stayed one night in the tree house which was definitely worth it. Such a peaceful sleep. Guides were very knowledgeable and very good at educating about the Bush. Walking safari was an excellent experience.

IrelandIt was not possible for the entire group to walk in the morning as not all guides can take groups walking.
Guides were amazing. They were incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic and eager to answer all our questions. Charlie was our guide for the game drives and we really enjoyed his company. He was incredibly passionate about animals and told us lots of interesting facts and stories. He recommended a great book to us ‘The elephant whisperer’ which we got and thoroughly enjoyed reading. Matt and Nicolette did our walks and we had amazing experiences with elephants. Walking is a special experience as you feel so close to nature and the animals. Matt and Nicolette were also eager to impart knowledge and taught us lots about the vegetation and tracking.

GermanyThere is nothing not to like about this lodge because in our opinion it was the best thing after sliced bread
Fantastic location, beautiful small scale lodge with ultra pleasant and friendly staff. The activities were fantastic, especially the morning game walks. Being escorted by two very knowledgeable Rangers, we felt safe in the bush and immensely enjoyed the walks and all that we saw and learned these days.

United StatesWe didn’t love one of our guides, who seemed to have a shortsighted view of the park and neighboring lodges. Sometimes, it felt like our game drives were competitive viewing spectacles where we tried desperately to get a better view of an animal than another guiding outfit. I was not a fan of this. It also felt like this guide was not capable of spotting much or explaining anything about the surroundings past a memorized set of definitions that she constantly recycles. We also didn’t really enjoy the food at the camp. We would have much preferred to have peri peri chicken or fish for every meal rather than European staples like lasagna, pastry/ meat pie, chicken Caesar wraps, etc. We didn’t feel connected at all to Africa and were a bit bummed about this.
We throughly enjoyed our guides, Matt and Lausanne. They were very knowledgeable, excited, and genuinely interested in all of the micro and macro species found in the reserve. The rooms and communal areas were also lovely with nice furnishings and kept clean.

United KingdomA truly unforgettable and intimate safari stay. Africa on foot is made by its staff, everyone is so welcoming and knowledgeable. Matt and Nt were fantastic guides and Nicolette a great host. It was great to see how passionate they were about their jobs. We had some amazing sightings but made all the better by the relaxed and fun atmosphere they created on the jeep and on foot. Being a smaller group meant you could ask lots of questions and you really felt you got the most out of the experience. The Bush walking was a first for us and a really unique experience. It gave us a new appreciation for the smaller animals insects and flora around - and how amazing they are at adaptation. To top it off we stayed in the treehouse falling asleep to the sound of hyena is a night we won't forget. South Africa is a special place for us and it was made even more special by this stay.

New ZealandWe had a wonderful 4 days here. The safaris were well run and JD our guide took such amazing care of our son. He really took particular care to develop his passion for animals and has sparked what I am sure is a life long love of animals. The evening Sundowners were wonderful as was the amazing birthday dinner setting for my husbands birthday. We hope to come and visit again someday.
